8/11 & 10/11. For the first passage, I started reading and realized half way through I didn't do anything I was supposed to... just started reading the passage for "fun". Then had to pause and rewind to try the given technique. I did so (or tried to at least) for P2, which was the passage I got all my wrong answers for. I definitely need to practice this stuff!
AND I realized when I read Substack articles in the morning with my coffee, I should practice getting into the habit of low res summaries because I'm used to reading so mindlessly.
Hey peer! Thank you for being so vulnerable with all of us. While I'd highly recommend getting tested for ADHD or just speaking with a professional, I understand that's not always an option (it's not for me, so I get it).
The advice I have will not cure ADHD or any other type of phsyological or learning disorders, nor is it a substitute for theriputical exercises or medication, but I think this advice is generally beneficial for everyone, so I'll share it anyways. At the risk of sounding like a boomer, I believe the best step to help with not only your attention span, but also the brain fog you mentioned, is to delete social media. Speficially, I think deleting all forms of short-form content is entirely benefitial.
I did so a few months ago, and while I defintely didn't have an entire personality shift, I did feel like a cloud of brain fog had lifted. I have found it easier to retain attention on something for longer than 30 seconds, and sitting with boredom taught me how to get moving. I still have trouble getting things started sometimes, but I have found it immensly easier to do so.
Deleting all forms of short-form content from my life also opened up time for me to study instead of scroll. I started listening to podcasts and reading articles relating to dopamine (which I am aware has been trending in the 'wellness' industry as of late) and learned about how short-form content specifically raises our baseline for dopamine, which, long story short, is bad.
So, ADHD or not, try to get off your phone, your body and brain will thank you for it!
I saw the second flaw, about the application of imply vs infer, but it was more intuitive and I wpuldn't have been able to predict an answer with words. I also just did not catch the what we know vs what others know at all. That's a great thought to keep in my brain bank going forward!
This one almost got me, because E made sense. I was baited into making the assumption that benefitting the local economy would override the Dalton resident's concern's about the noise, thus making them in favor of the proposal, which would then fulfill the sufficient condition.
But that's a wild rabbit hole I put myself in. Maybe the resident's of Dalton are old folks in retirement who don't give a beaver dam about the local economy... maybe they just want peace and quiet.
Then I paused, and revisted the conditional statement in the stim:
DR favor --> Airport
/Airport --> /DR favor
The conclusion said :
/DR favor --> /Airport.
Nobody else said that, so A is correct.
I think I understand... A is saying that the people who believe he is guilty already thought he was a bad mayor. WHICH MEANS the other people do NOT believe he is guilty, so that explains the "suprising fact" because that means the other half does NOT believe his is guilty (or they don't know), so it (the ethics scandal) doesn't really affect their view of his performance, so it makes it possible for them to be chill with him as mayor. I feel like I just jumped through 30 hoops (or whatever that saying is).
Tiger: Not all cups can hold hot tea. Afterall, a plastic cup will melt immediately if you pour hot water into it.
Disney: All VIP members can now access the Secret Series. Any member who reveals their biggest secret to Big John will have the Secret Series access code sent directly to their email. All other members must walk to the top of Think Hill to retrieve their access code. Willy Wonka is a VIP member who has access to the Secret Series. Willy Wonka did not walk to the top of Think Hill, so Willy Wonka must have revealed his biggest secret to Big John.
Trash Bin: My bicycle that was locked to the lamppost is missing, and the lock appears to have been severed. My neighbor paul is speed walking out of his garage, all sweaty, the way he does after doing work on his fense. My hypothesis is that my neighbor Paul is the guilty party, having intentionally broken the lock to access the bike.
Yikes! I went with A, and then chose C in BR, and I was wrong both times. I was really focused on this line, and assumed it was somehow the key to answering this question. "Cooled below the lower end of this range, molten glass retains an amorphous atomic structure, but it takes on the physical properties of a solid."
I don't know why I was so fixated on this sentence, but I went in sooooo confident when I pressed submit. I want to cry now.
