Feedback on PT schedule for June?

Just set up a schedule and would appreciate some feedback. Made sure to take 2-3 tests per week, and on the weeks I take 3 to include one retake to help with burnout:

April 3- PT 70

April 6- PT 40

April 10- PT 55

April 12- PT 71(retake)

April 14- PT 45

April 17- PT 73

April 20- PT 41

April 25- PT 50

April 27- PT 68

May 1- PT 60

May 3- PT 57

May 5- PT 72 (retake)

May 8- PT 62

May 10- PT 65

May 12- PT 61 (retake)

May 15- PT 76

May 17- SPB

May 22- PT 77

May 24- PT 63 (retake)

May 29- SPC

May 31- PT 47 (retake)

I plan to review all questions I had trouble with from the 70s the week before the exam. 3 days before test day I will take PT 56 (a retake) to stay sharp and hopefully remain confident.

Hoping also that some people use this schedule so that we can BR some tests together. Please PM me if you'd be interested. I think this schedule is pretty good since it mixes up the PTs while also giving you enough time to get acclimated to the most recent (70s) exams.

Lastly, I also left 8 fresh practice tests from 38+ to save for a potential retake. I know some may disagree but I find fresh tests to be so important, and I don't want to be in the position of having seen every test if I am forced to retake.

Really trying to get into a routine two months before test day. I usually do 3 hours in the morning and 2 hours at night. I also sprinkle in some off days, around one a week. For those of you who study 5+ hours a day, do you study all at once or do you separate it into two chunks like me? Just curious.

Also, what time of day do you guys usually study? I find that my mind is much clearer in the morning. Studying in the afternoon/night is so damn hard since there are so many distractions from the day.

And lastly, what do you guys do to avoid distractions/interruptions while studying? Right now I leave my phone on airplane mode but I still usually check up some stock quotes/news once every hour or so. I really need to learn to just shut out everything, but it's difficult. Technology was suppose to make things easier but these days I feel it's a major burden/distraction.

If RC is what's bringing you down it may be a little harder, but definitely possible. Just BR thoroughly and focus on your approach. I think you can get there, good luck!

Really great post, this is something a lot of people go through, and unfortunately many make poor decisions. I know a guy who was capable of scoring a 170+. He studied for only 2 months, took the Dec test, and got a 163. He said he had to apply that cycle, couldn't wait another year. He's at a T25 school, but this is someone who could've easily gotten into a t-14 with a nice scholarship. One year isn't really a long time, and it's almost always worth it to delay. You wanna know that at the end of the day you gave it your best shot.

Seriously the LSAC has got to stop this, it's getting ridiculous. So unfair, which testing center was this?

Can you please provide a link? I'm seeing $8

Things are moving so quickly for me during the exam that I really have no idea how I'm doing while taking the exam. Many times I think I'm doing a lot worse than I really am and this destroys my confidence for the rest of the test. For example I took PT58 last week and thought I did really poorly on the first two sections, LR and RC. Turned out that I got a combined -6 between the two sections. On the last two sections, which were considered much easier according to the 7sage analytics, I went -8 resulting in a 167 score. And one of the sections was LG. During the break all I thought about were the first two sections and how I screwed up, and I think this thinking affected me for the rest of the test. After the test was done I honestly thought there was no way I scored a 160+. Let me add that I finish sections just in time and maybe that's my problem since there's no time for me took double check. So my question in short is what do you think I can do to remain mentally strong throughout the entire test? Any advice would be really helpful as this problem has been plaguing me on almost every test.

Also, it takes me an incredibly long time to BR because I circle so many damn questions, even ones from 1-10. It seems like I'm 100% sure on just a handful of questions each PT when taking the test timed. And that's what I hate about this test: no matter how much I study there's always that feeling of uncertainty during the test. I am always envious of those that only circle like 2-3 LR questions per section. Are those people really 100% sure that they've nailed each and every one of those questions? I can get to that point during BR ( my BR scores are around 175) but no way in hell can I ever do that timed.

Same here, didn't take the test but from what I've heard: RC same as 78, LG harder because of last game, and LR very easy. So thinking -11,-12

Superprep A RC #20

Can't understand this question for the life of me. Might be because I don't have a good science background.

The author says explicitly in lines 34-42 that because the "magnetic fields of basalts in NA are aligned quite differently from rocks formed in the same epoch in Europe" this supports the theory of continental drift.

Doesn't (C) undermine this since it talks about some being the same magnetic field alignment? And how is (A) the answer? The seafloor spreading supports contintental drift since it shows that the plates move. Isn't (A) just something additional that we were able to figure out?

A and E were easy to eliminate, would appreciate an explanation for why A is right and C and D are wrong. TIA.

62 was hard because of games but the really generous curve made up for it. Found 75 to be real tough also. And agree with the above poster, 72 was really hard, every section on that test was tough.

Contacting Test Center---not allowed?

It says on the admission ticket that I'm not allowed to contact LSAC test center supervisors for any reason. I've heard different things about my test center having those small, pull-out desks and I wanted to ask someone at the college if that'll be the case. Is this in violation of LSAC rules? From the wording on the ticket it seems so, but I've never heard of this before.

Spivey vs David Busis for my situation

I've heard great things about both, but I wanted to know what you'd guys would recommend for my specific situation.

Have a LSAT score in the low 160s with a LSAC GPA above 4.0. I'm retaking in September with the hopes of achieving a 166+.

I'm beginning to work on my apps now. Obviously could use some assistance with PS and resume, but would love to get some comprehensive help. Not sure where I'll be numbers-wise in 2-3 months from now but I have to get started with the application process. Waiting until I get my Sep score results to work on my PS, resume, etc isn't really ideal. Plus, I'd like to apply as early as possible.

Here are my 3 options:

1) Work on everything myself until I get my Sep scores and reevaluate.

2) Spend the $ on the 7sage Admissions Ultimate package (much cheaper than Spivey) to get some help with my PS and resume. Have an awesome PS and resume. If I get my desired score, I finish up the rest of my application stuff myself and save some much needed $ from not having to work with Spivey. If I don't get my desired score, purchase hourly help from Spivey for the other components of my application to ensure I submit the best possible application.

3) Just spend the $$$ on Spivey's comprehensive package. Yes, it's costly, but I've heard from several ppl that it's extremely valuable. Might as well just get started now.

If anyone has any experience with Spivey or David, I'd really appreciate some advice. Don't really know the best way to proceed. Thanks!

PayPal has a feature called Bill Me Later where you can pay with credit, and as long as the $ is paid within 6 months, no interest is charged. The ability to pay over the course of 6 months would really help a lot of students who'd rather not have to pay everything all at once. Cambridge LSAT accepts PayPal and and I was wondering why 7sage doesn't. I think this added feature would help attract even more students. Would it be possible to add PayPal as a payment method?

PT58,S4,Q18

I get why (E) is the answer here, there's a flaw between the premise and sub-conclusion. Just because a majority are unaware doesn't necessarily mean they disprove of the attempt.

But I'm having a tough time eliminating (D). If we just isolate the sub-conlusion (premise) and main conclusion we get: Since a majority of them obviously disapprove of THE attempt, graduate students at this university should not unionize. Ok, so they disapprove of THIS attempt, but isn't there the possibility that they may want to unionize for other reasons, which is what (D) says? Or maybe I'm just reading this wrong. Any help woulf be greatly appreciated!

Apps Question

Is there a specific order in which to take care of everything? For example, is it better to ask for LORs before you write your personal statement or after? I'm currently reading/learning about the process and plan to begin over the next few days. Here's the order which I came up with, would really appreciate if someone can tell me whether I'm going about this the right way.

1) Submit transcripts

2) Resume

3) Rough draft personal statement

4) Ask for letters of recommendation (give writers resume and PS to assist)

5) Revise and perfect PS

How does test day differ from a PT?

Taking the test in a few weeks and I want to make sure I perform my best on test day. I do my best to mimic test-day conditions in terms of break/time but I usually take these tests in really quiet rooms. Yesterday I took a free proctored exam offered by Manhattan and it was also really quiet. Will it be like this on test-day or should i expect to be distracted? Also, does anyone have any other tips on how to make sure one performs his/her best on test day? TIA!

Any books/site to help with weird games?

Terrible with mapping and circle games and would appreciate if anyone can recommend a book/site to help. 7sage doesn't really address these kinds of games. And also, does anyone have a list of all they types of miscellaneous games? Want to make sure I practice at least a few of each type. Thanks!

Anyone ever use this book? Thoughts?

For games do you think supplementing a book with the 7sage course is detrimental or do you think it'll be helpful? I know many here use some books for LR and RC, but haven't seen many use a prep book for games.

@ Idk, taking undisclosed tests suck. Just something about it makes me feel uncomfortable. LSAC can be like" they're never gonna see the test anyway so let's see how they respond to tough/weird questions." I'll be taking an undisclosed test in Sep, just wish I was taking the test with everyone else lol.

Thanks everyone. Actually just found out from a friend that he doesn't teach anymore. So there goes the possibility of meeting him once the semester starts. The only option I guess now is to email him again and ask if we can arrange to meet up. I did well in his class and he wrote me an awesome recommendation letter for a scholarship at my school. So I think I can benefit a lot from having him write a letter. How would you guys suggest writing up the follow up email? Don't wanna come off as annoying. I kinda hate this process since you're asking people for favors and can't really pay them back.

LOR help

Emailed a professor who I'd really love a letter from but he hasn't responded. Sent the email two weeks ago, should I follow up or just wait another few weeks and see what happens? Don't wanna annoy him, but at the same time I'd like to have him do it now before the semester starts. Not really sure how to proceed, if anyone has been in a similar situation I'd really appreciate some advice. Thanks!

NA Questions on the Recent Exams.

Anyone feel like some of the correct answers to NA questions on the recent exams aren't really necessary?

On PT 71,S1, Q22 I see how this would be a sufficient assumption but don't see at all how it's necessary. Performing the negation test wouldn't really destroy the argument since we are only talking about predatory pricing, not ANY pricing practice. And I remember having a similar problem on PT63 Q11 where I thought there's no way the correct answer is necessary.

On older tests the negation technique proved very effective but I feel like it's actually hindering me on NA questions from the more recent tests. Any advice on how i can adjust? This used to be my favorite question type, now it's not! Want these questions to be automatic.

Friends of mine who took both 78 and 79 said they were about the same since the LR on 79 was supposedly really easy. Yes, it had a tough RC and LG, but LR makes up half the test. 78 had easier games, but tougher LR.

What I'm getting at is that every test is different in its own way. If a test is truly "harder" the curve will reflect that. The only test that I think the curve didn't compensate for difficulty was 72, that test was really really difficult.

Best way to set up a PT schedule?

I've read here that it's best to take some of the newer tests a month before so that you have more time to learn from them and adjust your methods.

I have around 35 PTs available: all of the SuperPrep, 45-50, most of the 50s, and 60+.

I'm creating a PT schedule tonight and I'd like to know the best way to order the tests. Many here have taken all of them and if you can help me out that would be great. Also do I save any for a potential retake?

Book Recommendations?

Hey Everyone,

I remember someone on TLS who recommended reading Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything" and it was not only fantastic but also helped me get acquainted with different topics in the sciences. Outside Reading Suggestions

Someone last time recommended "The Great Dissent" by Thomas Healy and I absolutely loved the book.

Figured it would be good to start another thread of book/article recommendations that can help improve reading skills + make you more familiar with LSAT subject matter.I struggle with Humanities passages so if anyone has any recommendations...

I mentioned last time that Bill Bryson's " A Short History of Nearly Everything" is a great read: will help you become familiar with a lot of the topics that are tested on the science passages and is also interesting.

Meditation: does it really help?

Would like to start as I've read about the many benefits.

Few questions though:

1) Did meditation help you for the LSAT?

2) Any apps/videos for beginners?

3) How long does it take to start seeing the benefits? Taking LSAT in a month. If I start now is it too late? Thanks!

LR in the 70s- Are they different?

So I was averaging -5 total in LR on the 50s and 60s but when I started taking some of the 70s (70,71,72) it went up to -9 total. And usually one of the sections will be a lot easier where I'll go -2, and then I'll bomb the other one with like a -7. I've tried reviewing these questions in depth and I noticed several things:

1) the LR stimuli are longer

2) answer choices are harder to comprehend, eliminate

3) NA questions are not as tight as they once were (check out the LR question in PT71 section 1 on predatory pricing and you'll see what I mean).

4) Lots of annoying principle/strengthen questions that are really time-consuming.

Perhaps it may take some time getting used to, but after taking PT72 LR#2 I had to vent since I found this section to be insanely difficult. And with the circular game, this PT is an absolute killer.

Has anyone noticed any other trends in the 70s LR? Or does anyone have any advice on how to tackle/approach these different questions? Thanks!!

Take 77 before Monday?

Trying to decide whether I should take PT 77 before Monday. This would be my last PT. I've been scoring lower on these 70s tests, and I really don't wanna score low a few days before the real thing.

On the other hand, the 70s tests are different than the 60s and 50s IMO.And the test I'll be taking Monday will likely be most similar to the past 5 exams. Taking this test also has some other advantages: will help to see how I deal with the curveball game, newer LR and RC, etc. What do you all think?

2016-2017 cycle

Anyone have any insights on how this cycle might shape up? Is the number of law school applicants on the rise or is it falling? Will schools be more flexible when it comes to splitters/reverse-splitters? Did the number of June test takers increase, decrease, or stay about the same?

I've tried researching but I haven't found much. Mike Spivey did mention though in a tweet that he'll be coming out with some predictions for the 16/17 cycle within the next few weeks. Hoping someone here may have some info.
