Hey all,
Are LSAT prep and law school applications tax deductible? IE books, 7sage course, lsat test, application fees, etc.
A gap probably wouldn't just help you get a better LSAT score and get you into a better school, it will give you an additional year of maturity and experience that may make you do better in law school which will help you in the job market after.
I sometimes work with folks in International Arbitration and they get to travel for cases a lot. Unfortunately though, when they travel it is normally for a big hearing or filing and they work 90-100 hours a week.
People who work on domestic cases at large firms will also travel a lot for depos, hearings, meeting etc. Normally, though like Arbitration they will be working most of the time. The trips for domestic cases are quite short as well. It is not unheard of for a busy attorney to fly cross country and back in a day.
As far as actual time off, that varies by firm. Some firms respect vacation, some don't. Some will be flexible with you working from different locations, some will not.
JY, do they release the LSAT early to you because you are a celebrity borderline god in the LSAT subculture?
More seriously, can't thank you and the whole 7sage team enough for this resource. Most importantly, unlike most other test prep companies it is priced at a reasonable rate with all students and all budgets in mind. Seems like some of the other test prep companies just perpetuate the vicious circle of standardize testing rewarding socioeconomic status above all else. THANK YOU!
Reading over that writing sample though is getting me worried... JK! Fuck it. Didn't say anything crazy and it was somewhat coherent plus I seriously doubt anyone would exert the energy necessary to read my handwriting.
Yes thank you 7sage! Combining the resources on this website, videos, printouts, community, etc. with daily studying I was able to reach my goal. Thanks to the folks who work on this website and thanks to the great community!
I have a watch that I just start at 12. When the first section is over I set it to 1, then 2, and so on and so forth.
Giving my dog a belly rub too!
Yeah, and an extra finger of scotch as suggested above.
Taking an unplanned night off from studying and going out on a date with my wife!
Phonebooks are so old school. Are we to the point where there are students using this site who maybe never had to use the yellow pages?
I also work in big law. My experience studying while working crazy hours is the following. It is kind of like an in/out game. Here are the rules:
I want to do four things. Socialize, work, study, relax.
I only have time to do exactly two things.
I can study or relax, but not both.
I can work or socialize, but not both.
So 7 days a week, my schedule is like this:
In: study, work
Out: socialize, relax
It is tough, but if you are working in big law you know that the hours of a big law lawyer require lots of sacrifice so in a way studying for the LSAT is like prepping to be a lawyer (at least one in big law).
I know TLS has some good stuff on it. But there are also a lot of people on it who just aren't very serious about Law School/honest who exaggerate their scores, experiences, etc. and just plain old make up things. I generally just don't believe much I read on it. On the other hand, ppl here are pretty awesome so believe what they say!

Apparently there is a blogger doing in depth analysis of various types of pencils. Here is the bloggers take on the black warrior.

Thanks! Yep not much to do now just wait and see. Always have dec if all else fails.
Furthermore, does anyone have an idea of how much raw score can vary compared to the weighted score? For example, for a 168 how much can the raw score vary?
This is something I am completely capable of looking at myself, but I am beat :)
Does anyone else feel completely uncertain about how they did? I feel like I could have a 10 point band in my score.
Re feeling discouraged about an LSAT score before you have sufficiently prepared. It is my belief that the LSAT is definitely not a measure of intelligence, nor is it a foolproof method of measuring potential ability as a lawyer. It is a measure of how much time you have spent preparing and learning the unique skills necessary to do well on the test. For the few who have high diagnostics (although I would guess most people who claim to have a high first diagnostic inflate their score or did not take it in real timed circumstances), they are not necessarily smarter than average, they were just fortunate enough in their schooling to have learned some of the skills for the test.
So no reason to feel discouraged or somehow less intelligent because of a diagnostic score just keep working until you get score you want.
So I just looked at the weather and a hurricane will be moving up the East Coast in the next few days.
What are the general practices for the LSAT and inclement weather? Do they ever cancel? This may be the first time in my life I don't want a test postponed.
You are not the first. For a confidence boost, do the games on pt 73 :). I really think 72 in general was just a tough test for logic games and overall. Seems like an anomaly though.
