Got it right on BR, but I hate that I didn't initially recognize that this was MC Review and no longer MSS review.

To me, it's not obvious that #5 is a conditional statement. It seems more like a plain jane comparative statement. Am I missing something? #help

I really need someone to break this one down for me because I'm simply not getting why it's D, though I see now why it can't be C. #help

Omg, the 'not approved' got me. I thought the percentages were 50% for the first censor and 25% for the second censor rather than 50% for the first and 75% for the second.

I'm interested if this is still happening

I originally chose B, but on blind review, I switched my answer to A although I knew that A was too strong of a claim (with the universal quantifier 'all'). My reasoning for this was because B is ultimately prescriptive and introduces a prescribed way of behaving, viz., being cautious when using gene splicing. However, the passage is descriptive of gene splicing and while it does introduce evaluative terms like 'undesirable' it still does not prescribe how gene splicing should or should not be used. Could someone please offer a better explanation for why B is the answer choice? #help

Hello!

So, I plan on taking the September test as things presently stand. I'm done with the core curriculum, and I plan to take my 2nd PT this week. Looking to form a group of about 4-6 people, and I'd like for those interested in joining to (i) have a goal of scoring 165+, (ii) have already completed the core curriculum, and (iii) be committed to meeting at least 4x a week to go over PTs, drills, and whatnot. If you're interested, I'll send you a PM (please be looking out). Again, I'm looking to keep the group relatively small for the sake of productiveness.

Interested! Will be done with core curriculum later today. Do you have a discord or something that people are supposed to join?

Would the translation be BOTH "Some natural disasters happening in the country (DHC) are the tornadoes in the area (TA)" as well as "Some natural disasters happening in the country (DHC) are not the tornadoes in the area (TA)"?

When I read the statement, I think, "Oh, so tornadoes are included in the natural disasters happening in the country, but other natural disasters are also happening."

Both DHC (-s-) TA, DHC (-s-) /TA sound correct to me.

I really do think that, "Some natural disasters happening in the country (DHC) are the tornadoes in the area (TA)" is the proper translation because there is strictly speaking only one 'not' in your original sentence, i.e., the one that negates the group 1 indicator 'the only'. However, I can totally grant that the sentence, "Some natural disasters happening in the country (DHC) are not the tornadoes in the area (/TA)," is implied by this translation. Open to hearing others' thoughts on this!

"The only" is a sufficient condition indicator, like "all," "any," "every," etc. When I see "not the only," I translate it to: "not all." "Not all" is just the negation of an all statement.

"Not all" translates to, "some...not."

"The tornados in the area are not the only natural disasters happening in the country."

So, "Some natural disasters happening in the country (DHC) are not the tornadoes in the area (TA)."

DHC (- s -) /TA

So, when you negate a group 1 indicator like "the only" or "all", it turns into "some". That's why the proper translation would be, "Some natural disasters happening in the country (DHC) are the tornadoes in the area (TA)," which can be diagrammed as DHC (-s-) TA.

Depends. How consistent is your LR score? If you can figure out how to consistently get LG to -1 or -2, RC to -5, and LR to -2 in less than a month and a half, then I think your chances of scoring a 169 in June are high. LG is easiest to get down: do as much foolproofing of games as you possibly can, from PTs 1-35. RC may be doable if you are willing to put in the work. I would suggest doing at least 2 passages a day until maybe the week of the June test and then you'll just do passages you've already seen before for confidence building. Going from -4 to -2 on LR will require really looking at your analytics and drilling those question types that you are dropping. Have you checked that out? What are your worst question types? For every PT you take from now on, try to make a habit of implementing a strategy for attacking those questions on LR that give you issues, whether that is NA, PSA, or whatever. Also, check out the explanation videos JY makes for the relevant question. I hope what I'm saying here makes sense. If not, PM me.

I don’t think this sentence needs to be translated. But if you wanted to translate, it would be, “Some natural disasters happening in the country are the tornadoes in the area.” As you can see, the meaning of the sentence isn’t improved by translating (at least not in my view).

I think it would be helpful if all of the flaws that we will typically encounter were discussed at the beginning of this module, as I believe it was in ccv1. #feedback

Did anyone else choose A and then switch to E? I had a tough time picking up on this question's dialectic, and I switched to E because it seemed to supply a premise against microprinting rather than for it.

Perhaps it's a good thing to mix it up like that, but I personally tried to learn the foundational stuff first in the most timely manner possible. That meant going through the whole core curriculum in about 5-6 weeks. Then, I started drilling whole sections of either LR/LG/RC or full PTs, blind reviewing them, and watching explanation videos of stuff that was not initially clicking for me. When I'm not drilling, I'm alternating throughout the week between LR, LG, and RC -- doing timed and untimed sections, troubleshooting recurring issues that I'm having, doing/blind reviewing questions from short drills, and so forth.

Hopefully, this helps!
