Lawgic is what matter here . We are simply thinking about if ->then
Starting with Kumar is late. Him being 17 or 20 minutes.
You are still being the argument with the “then” portion of the argument
With that argument being: then he was late 17 so… which would be a weird way to start an argument

For anyone confused, what helped me is referencing the flow of the argument. We are given Late -> 5+.
But in the case of Kumar we start with "5+" which mistakes the two clause and cannot be correct or known
