My honest opinion is to skip the diversity statement unless you truly feel you have a "diverse" attribute that is worth highlighting. If your parents being immigrants played a major part in your upbringing and you want to address that then by all means write it. But if not, some schools may view a half-hearted diversity statement as worse than none at all. You mentioned addressing your other positive personal attributes in the personal statement which is a great alternative approach. You could also offer an addendum to address your GPA if NIU offers that.

If NIU is your target school then the safest way to raise your chances would be to boost your LSAT to a few points over the median! It's not easy but it is a surer bet than relying on any supplemental materials.

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago and it seems nobody knows the answer. 7Sage should post clear guidance for people that are looking to retake in August and are switching syllabus... following.

@ Hey Keel! So you mean attempting to do an entire section in 30 minutes vs 35? I haven't heard this one but could give it a try!

@ Hey! Sorry for the delayed response. I am going to take 6 practice tests in between now and then. I also took one yesterday. The rest of the time I will review missed questions from PTs, drill logic games, or do drills with difficult questions I typically struggle with. My main focus is 4 and 5 star LR questions and all Logic Games as practice.

April LSAT Takers: How You Feeling?!

I am sitting for my first LSAT in April and with less than a month to go it is starting to feel real. I am hoping to boost my score by another 5-7 points which feels like a lot but I have a good plan in place for the final countdown...

How is everybody feeling? Prepared? Nervous? If it goes poorly the plan is to take again in August, but I would love to just get my goal score first try and be done with it.

Good luck to everybody!

Following! Especially because I am still studying for LGs in April! I hope/ believe they won't take away the LG practice prematurely. #feedback

Practice test WITHOUT LGs

As we all know LGs are gone in August. My plan is to take one test prior to August and then the August exam as well (once with LGs, once without).

So my question is: is there a way to simulate a test without LGs so we can see our relative score with and without the section. I expect that my overall score will go up without the LG section but I wasn't sure if it was possible to see since the test has not been administered this way yet. Thanks in advance for the help!

Edit: I did more research and found the answer to my own question! I figured I would post it here in case anybody is wondering the same.

Answer: We've also updated our digital tester so that you can take PrepTests with two LR sections and no Logic Games section. To take a PrepTest in the new format, simply navigate to Practice->PrepTests in the main menu and click on a PrepTest. Once you're on the page for the PrepTest, click the drop-down menu to the right of the name of the PrepTest number and select “August 2024 3-section LSAT (LR, LR, RC).”

Hi all,

I took the April 2024 LSAT and am going to retake in August. As such I am going to switch over to the new syllabus and I am looking for some guidance on the following. Any help is appreciated!

I already went through most of the LR curriculum but I am considering redoing it. Is it substantially different and worth taking from the top? Or mostly the same?

I noticed that when you switch over all of the drill questions and prep tests are now marked untaken. Is this completely fresh material or is it reusing questions from the old syllabus. My concern is that when I switch over I will be repeating questions and there will be no indication whether or not I have taken them before. This also effects my drilling strategy going forward.

If anybody has switched between the two already and has any guidance it would be much appreciated!

In most of the PTs on 7 Sage your score is based on 4 sections, unlike the real test. IDK why or how that works but the results you get are a score based on 4 sections, and as far as I know nothing on there is experimental.

If you want to practice taking a PT with three sections just select "simulate modern" It will be three scored sections of LR or RC. Also I think they just released versions of modern PTs (Aug 2024 and beyond) but I haven't tried any of those.

Best of luck in your studies.

Agree it is useful for LR and could make the difference between a good and great score.

Listen to Jazz. I recommend anything by the pianist Bill Evans, he also has a trio called the Bill Evans Trio.

There is a lot of EDM that is slower and more relaxed so that you could study to it as well.

@ Thank you for the thoughtful reply and positivity! I appreciate it greatly because it is just what I need to push through the final weeks of prep.

I was born in the US, but lived in France for a year as well. And Madrid is one of my favorite cities in the world. Enjoy the tapas and best of luck on the exam.

Hala Madrid !

April LSAT Writing Sample

Hey everybody!

I'm sure many of you just got the email regarding the writing sample opening tomorrow. Does anybody have any thoughts, advice, etc. on completing this? I felt as though the email could have included a bit more information.

Specifically I am wondering how much time I should allot since it seems like we have to complete it in one go once we launch the session. Also, I am wondering how much of an impact overall this has on your test results considering it is not scored.

Any general advice from people who have completed this before would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance and good luck to everybody taking the test in less than 2 weeks!
