Are the LR drill sets only for the Ultimate+ accounts? I logged into my account but the drill sets are not separated like they are in JY's video :disappointed:

Process of elimination. Meaning you get to the right answer by eliminating the wrong answer choices.

@ you aren't alone! I'm right there with you. I know we've chatted on another thread :) Depending on how my December score looks, I may end up delaying ANOTHER year :( I just turned 27 so I'm eager to start law school too, but I rather have solid scholarships to a school I want to go to then settle. PM me if you want to chat about studying! I'm trying to figure out how to move forward with studying now that December is over.

Question #13 - Weaken

The author is arguing that animal feed should NOT include genetically modified plants. He says that a study found that lab rats that were fed genetically modified potatoes tended to develop intestinal deformities and a weakened immune system. Rats that were fed a normal diet of foods that were not genetically modified did not develop this problems.

So the author is assuming that the issues are arising from the potatoes, not some other cause.

A -- this is the right answer. If the potatoes were new to the rats diet then that could be the cause of the deformities, not the fact that the potatoes were genetically modified.

B -- So what? This does nothing to weaken the argument that animal feed should not include GMPs.

C -- Intestinal deformities are common among rats bred in lab conditions. If this were true then the rats fed a normal diet would be expected to have the intestinal deformities too. Also, the stimulus says that the rats tended to develop intestinal problems and this answer choice talks about the deformities at birth.

D -- Same nutritional value? Doesn't do anything to weaken our argument.

E -- Again, does nothing to weaken our argument.

Question 13 – MISC.

So we have a group of 3 year olds who had learned to count to 10 and now they are trying to learn their phone numbers. Every child is familiar with the names of all the digits but none of them could remember their phone number. The teacher taught each child a song whose lyrics contained their phone number. By the end of the day, the children could remember their telephone number.

So basically the song helped the kids learn the order of their phone numbers, like a mnemonic device.

A – I don’t know if it wasn’t that they couldn't, this method just helped them learn it. There could have been some other method that helped them learn it too.

B – Well they knew the names of the numbers, they just couldn’t put them in the order of their telephone number.

C – We don't know if this method was better, we just know it worked for these kids.

D – We don’t know if they didn’t know the meaning, just that they had a hard time recalling the phone number.

E – This is the right answer. The songs were helpful for the kids to remember the order of their phone number.

Question # 2 – Disagree

Klein is arguing that because the amount of matter that we have found in our galaxy is only 1/10th of what Einstein’s theory predicts, that gives us good reason for abandoning his view. Brown argues that because Einstein’s theory has been successful, it is better to conclude that most of the matter in our galaxy has not yet been found.

A – Klein agrees with this. B doesn’t say anything about this.

B – K has no opinion on this.

C – K has no opinion on this.

D – K believes this. B does not believe we should abandon it, he thinks we have just not found all the matter. This is the point on which they disagree.

E – K has no opinion on this.

Question #21 – Flaw

GR --> S --> W

/GR

--------------------

/W

So the author is failing the sufficient condition to say that the necessary condition cannot happen. He is treating the sufficient condition as a necessary condition. Classic flaw.

A – Nope, this is not the flaw

B – No, this is not the flaw

C – This is the flaw the author is committing. In English “takes a condition that by itself is enough to make an action wrong (if you take something that you have good reason to think is someone else’s property) to also be necessary in order for the action to be wrong (there could be reasons the action is wrong). The condition is sufficient but it does not need to be necessary.

D – No, this isn't the flaw either. We are trying to get at that sufficiency/necessity error.

E – No, this is not the flaw in the argument.

Question #9 – Method of Reasoning

The author is arguing that records from 1850 to 1900 indicate that the health of a newborn depends to a large extent on the amount of food available to the mother during her pregnancy. The records he is referencing show that in a certain region, babies’ birth weights each year varied with the success of the previous years’ crops: the more successful the crops, the higher the birth weights.

The author is referencing a study with a supposed correlation between babies birth weights (A) and success of previous’ years crops (B) . He is then using that correlation to make a conclusion about the health of a newborn baby (C) being dependent on the food available to a mother during her pregnancy (D).

A – This is the correct answer. The author makes a casual conclusion on the basis of a supposed correlation.

B – No, the author is not arguing that crops are the sole cause of babies’ weights.

C – No, the author is not arguing that the correlation still exists.

D – He doesn’t discuss a common cause of two phenomena. He is discussing two separate pairs.

E – He doesn’t provide an explanation, just says A and B are correlated and we can conclude that D causes C.

Question #8 – Most Strongly Supported

So there was a recent study done on hypnosis and this study helps illuminate the supposed connection between hypnosis and increased power of recall. A number of subjects listened to a long, unfamiliar piece of instrumental music. The subjects were then hypnotized. Half of the subjects asked to recall salient passages from the musical piece and half asked to describe scenes from the “film they have just viewed” even though they had not scene a film. Study found that second group were equally confident and detailed in their movie recollections as they subjects in the first group were about their musical recollections.

So it sounds like the hypnosis made people recall things that didn't actually happen?

A – We don't know this from the statements in the stimulus. Too broad.

B – Maybe it can, maybe it can’t. We don’t know this from the stimulus.

C – Inevitably is too strong of a word. We can’t say that from the stimulus.

D – This is the right answer. The people in the second group were led on by the researchers when they asked them to describe scenes from the “film they just watched”

E – Visual memory? Nothing visual was shown to the subjects.

Based on all the advice I have received, I think you should keep it. Right now you have used up 2 of your 3 takes. If you cancel December then you will have no idea how you did on 2 LSATs. If you end up not getting the score you want then at least you have one more take. You can use your score from December to see where you went wrong and learn from those mistakes. I am in a similar situation to you (although December was my first take). I am still going back and forth on whether to cancel but I am leaning towards keeping my score at this point. Most schools take the highest score and I think there is a lot to learn from any score you end up receiving on an LSAT.

@ You literally described my test day experience to a tee. I had the same order of sections as you. I was doing well up until the break. I came back and got destroyed by games 3 and 4 of the LG section and completely had a panic attack into Section 5 - LR. This was my first take and I have no idea what to do. I feel like I should cancel but the consensus seems to be against that. What are you going to do? This is so stressful :(

Checking in as I too am weighing UVA @ sticker (250k debt burden upon graduation) vs. WashU with a nice scholly (90k debt burden at graduation) and Wisconsin with 30k debt. Also sitting on 4 T14 WL's FWIW.

I would like to clerk and potentially move into teaching mid-career if I have the right grades so that certainly makes the decision harder. The difference between us is that I do NOT want to do BL, so I need to delve further into the LRAP to see if that makes those $3k/mo. loan payments actually feasible at a severely discounted rate if I do government work (which is what I want to do anyways).

Anyone else stuck in the sticker boat or have any thoughts about it?

I'm in the same boat @ ! UVA is my top choice but the thought of paying sticker is really stressing me out. I'm interested in clerking/government but I'm not completely opposed to BL either. Are you going to the Admitted Student Open House?

Should I cancel? Need Advice

Hey guys,

I've been on 7Sage for quite some time now but I don't post that often. Here's my background: I started studying for the LSAT in the summer of 2014 with a Blueprint classroom course. It was not helpful for me and I continued to study after the course but not consistently. I found 7Sage in fall of 2015 and went through the curriculum. It was helpful but I still didn't feel ready to take the exam. Between April 2016 until now I have been studying consistently. I even took a 6 week leave from work to study full time prior to yesterday's test. I have a 3.9 GPA from a great school. My goal score was 165+ for yesterday's test. I have been PTing in the mid-160s and BRing in the 170s.

Yesterday started off great. I felt good about the first three sections (LR-RC-LR). However, like many others on here, I had some serious issues with LG yesterday. LG was my 4th section. I completely choked on games 3 and 4 and unfortunately carried that anxiety and stress into my last LR section which has turned out not to be experimental. Needless to say it was extremely hard to focus in that last section and I had to guess on more questions than I normally would need to. I am seriously considering canceling my score. I know most schools take the highest score, but I can't stand the thought of having a low score on my record. I am completely devastated.

What should I do? I am not even sure how to study moving forward now that these oddball games are becoming the new "norm".

Confirm action

Are you sure?
