This is my understanding:
"People are not happy unless they feel that they are needed by others."
* unless negates the "Not happy" to:
1. happy -> feel needed. ( you are happy when you feel needed)
2. Contrapositive is needed -> happy ( if you not needed you are not happy)
So the phrase that says [most people in modern society, however, can achieve a feeling of indispensability only within the sphere of family and friends] = is saying that you can achieve a feeling of "indispensability" or "feeling needed" through family and friends.
The next sentence [b/c almost everyone knows that his or her job could be done by any one of the thousand of others] = means that anyone can take your job = meaning you are not needed & if you are not needed you are not happy.
so..
E is correct b/c it is saying [fewer than a majority]= "not most" or "most people can not" in a modern society can find happiness outside of the sphere of private interpersonal relationships (we assume this to be the family and friends).
After watching the video, I am still confused on the difference between a relative comparative claim and an absolute comparative claim. Can someone please clarify the difference? #feedback
