13/13 on hard--something clicked (the low-res summaries really helped). But I immediately started to worry that it was a fluke and whether I couldn't pull off the same thing on test day. Any advice on how not to be a bad test taker? I can see psyching myself out on actual test day, especially bc RC was never my strongest before
Hello, I really do not like JY's explanation here since he is analyzing the logical structure of the argument rather than its flawed method of reasoning. So here is my explanation for getting AC B
I identified the first flaw in the stimulus as an inappropriate source. "As a scientist" isn't an accurate credential to make claims about other people who may hold the same position as you; it is an accurate credential to speak of scientific topics only. Because of this, I eliminated ACs A C, and D as they utilized proper sources for the information cited.
Then I looked at B and E and saw that E's conclusion did not make another mistake that both the stimulus and B made: confusing a subset of people with a certain quality as the ONLY people with that certain quality. The stimulus makes this mistake when it assumes that scientists are the only logical people, and B makes this mistake when it assumes that adults are the only individuals who don't want children to eat candy before bed.
So B is the most parallel in its flawed method of reasoning as the stimulus. It just so happens to also be a parallel logical structure, but that may not always be the case for the correct AC in such questions.
Hope that helps someone!
