Yessss. The news from the last few days has really been stressful and clouding my mind. I've decided to stop watching the news in the final days before the exam on Saturday. I know it's a bit drastic but it's so disruptive to my peace of mind.

I chose B instead of A because I thought the "few" of A made the answer too vague. Doesn't "few" imply "some" which allows for the possibility of "all"? I thought that the various possibilities that "few" allows was a reason to eliminate A. If you take it to the "all" extreme then the answer choice doesn't do anything for the argument. Please correct me if I'm wrong in my thinking. Thanks!

Since answer D MBF, does this mean that if a necessary condition (critical thinking) for the "adequate protection" condition is not addressed in the answer choice since we're just given a new sufficient condition (presence of an orderly government), it goes against the stimulus since we have no idea if the necessary condition (critical thinking) is being met?

Does answer choice c act as a necessary assumption?

I'm confused as to why d is right for #15 because it says "major changes" and the passage discusses "when deviations from normal are quite small" (line 23) and how it fluctuates between 1 to 2 %. Because of this discrepancy I eliminated d :/

Thanks so much! It was a very helpful session.

Hi all,

I've been finding that the "anticipation" part of active reading for RC has been a challenge and doesn't come naturally for me. This act of asking myself why the author is telling me x has been an arduous, non-intuitive process. However during a break I took today, I watched a fascinating but morbid series on Netflix called "Historia de un clan," that is filled with suspense, crime, and dramatic moments. I started realizing that for many of the new faces and/or objects I saw the main characters interact with, I would think to myself why we are being given this detail by the show's creators. For example in one scene I asked myself, why is one of the supporting characters, a cold murderer, giving his half-eaten sandwich to a random panhandler? Is this panhandler going to be the next victim or is this a moment of genuine kindness? I think this act of anticipating is a way to prevent myself from being caught by surprise and not keel over from suspense. I hate scary surprises lol.

I know RC passages aren't as interesting and filled with suspense as crime series but this comparison clicked for me. I'm going to try and extend my desperate need/urgency to anticipate in suspenseful tv shows to reading RC passages. I find that adding an element of excitement in this way makes my reading engagement and my active reading more natural.

Did anyone else read "the supply of fresh water" in the stimulus to imply that humankind has access to the supply? I realize now that the way "supply" is used in the stimulus actually means existence of freshwater in the world but not necessarily freshwater accessible to humans.

Does "overall" in answer choice B mean something like most?

For me it was: 1st) RC (did contain the patriotism and bees passages) 2nd) LR 3rd) LR 4th) LR 5th) LG (did contain the gold/silver placement of items game as well as the recording game). I'm debating if I should present a complaint and how it could benefit me and would love some feedback. I was sitting in the back row in the corner and in the middle of the 2nd section, I noticed the AC was super loud and made a continuous whistling noise. It was so sharp that I had to cover my ears for the rest of that section and the 3rd section. During the break, I asked the proctor to be moved because the sound was only in my corner. I even walked around the room with the proctor and they agreed that there was a difference. They VERY RELUCTANTLY allowed me to move to a different part of the room to take the remaining 2 sections, saying that they normally can't do this b/c of the seating chart they maintain. They also said they would make note of that on the general notes they send in about factors that affect testing conditions. I should say this was my 3rd time taking the test. What do y'all think?
