I originally eliminated E because "faster" and "before" are not the same. I thought perhaps that maybe the hot beetles came about within maybe 10 days and then a few years later, the trees took 10 years to grow. How can we assume that the ice age ended within one day? How do we know that it did not happen over a few years?

The support for D in 22 is so weak! Just because Victorians weren't solving social ills with their philanthropy doesn't necessarily mean that government intervention is required for solving social ills. It only works if you're working under the assumption that bougie philanthropy and government welfare are the two, only, mutually exclusive options available.

I agree that A is the best answer but I was still hesitant to choose it because the stimulus says "equally likely" whereas the answer choice states "always possible," which is very different in my eyes. Should I discontinue looking for these measures of degree in my future parallel reasoning questions?

Dropped Score on recent Prep Tests

I have been doing sections every day (Reasoning, Comprehension, and Games) and getting around a -2 to -5. Granted, many of those sections are repeat sections (sections I have done before but practiced again) but I felt fairly confident in my scores and ability. Today, I took PT 73, and I got a -7 on Comprehension, -6 on Games, and -7 on Reasoning. I cannot believe this. I had felt like that I was performing well on the test. What happened? What can I do to prevent this from happening again?

I feel very confused and frustrated that my individual practice sections are not translating to the practice tests.

@J.Y. For question 19, I understand that you're supposed to find an example that matches the India example, but the passage doesn't specifically say manufacture and reinterpretation of "native" rituals, ceremonies, and traditions. The example is the manufacture of a "native" ceremony, but really B fits into the passage's description. The religious service is a reinterpretation of a ceremony to confer legitimacy. Is it wrong because you have to assume that gaining converts is a form of legitimacy? I guess nothing in the passage talks about religion like that.

@ I am taking on Sept 24!

I've been PT'ing in the 176+ range for my last few PTs, and at this point, I feel that I'm running out of PT material. I still haven't taken 63 to 77, which I am obviously trying to save for taking throughout August and September. So, I am taking about two PTs a week or one PT every three days. I'm not sure what to do on the days off, when I'm not taking a full PT. What do you recommend? Should I take 1-3 full sections on off days? Just drill a few games/passages/LR questions? Again, I only have a few untouched PTs left. Maybe a few in the 20s and 30s.

What do you think?

I had issue with this question because you have to make the assumption that the publishing house only published non-fiction and fiction. I guess you could fit all books into that binary but it would be a stretch.

Didn’t understand the argument being made, partly because I didn’t understand what organic factors were. In this passage, “organic factors” is the brain and its compounds and deficiencies. I narrowed down to B and C and I specifically eliminated C because it didn’t speak of these organic factors. But this was my mistake, because the argument is about the manifestation of symptoms and how they manifest. The argument suggests that different countries have different organic (read: brain) factors that cause the symptoms, but C suggests that it’s not organic factors, it’s cultural factors. It presents a competing hypothesis, the perfect answer for a weakening question. B is wrong because it talks about organic factors. What contributes to the organic factors is not the issue; it’s whether or not the organic factors are accounting for the difference. An easy question made difficult by poor wording of the stimulus.

You'll be surprised how much you'll pick up. Eventually if you do enough games, it will become 2nd nature and you won't need to take extra time. But this is assuming that you're correctly making inferences, because once you master those, you can speed up going through the questions.

Classic Dilemma: To apply or not to apply?

3.98 GPA and 165 LSAT. Retaking in February. I already submitted my application but my first choice school says they won't review my application until after I receive my Feb scores, unless I request otherwise. Their median LSAT is 165 but I feel that applying with a 165 won't get me much money (especially since they have a full-tuition scholarship I was hopeful for that would probably call for a 168 or 169). There is a decent (but not great) chance my score will improve in Feb but I fear that rolling admissions will give my spot to other applicants. You see my dilemma.

Your thoughts? I'm leaning towards just asking them to review my application now.

@ I guess that's the best option since I don't want to late and be last in the rolling admissions season.

@ I might get a score that is good enough for acceptance but I am aiming for some specific scholarships that call for higher scores. Should I still submit my applications before the end of this year?

I skipped the 3rd game to go to the fourth but I found that the fourth was incredibly hard for me too. Was it actually hard or did I just panick?

@ Haha, I'm just gonna pretend that it's a mistake, and I'm right since it's PT 1 and probably before the test writers fully masted writing LSAT questions.

I eliminated C because I thought it was too broad. C talks about all specialties, not just medical specialties. Out of scope...So I went with D instead. But I do understand why D is wrong.

I agree with most of your analysis. I quickly eliminated all the answers except for D. But I still believe D to be logically wrong because the answer choices states to be "more successful" whereas the stimulus states to be "most successful." If the answer choice said "most successful," it would be dead right. But instead, there is a term shift that doesn't make it have to be true anymore. It unjustifiably rules out the possibility that there are other methods that Europe can use to improve the success of its economy, even if such improvement doesn't make it the "most successful." @

Perhaps I have an unpopular opinion. Going too fast hurt me. I can finish a section in 20 min, but I'll get 3-4 wrong. If I take 30 min, I'll get 0 to 1 wrong. You're probably missing the tougher curvebreaker questions because you're going so fast that you're missing the nuances in the harder questions. To slow myself down, I take a deep breath everytime I turn the page. 3-5 minutes at the end of each section should be enough time to go back to the ones you were unsure of. Remember, you don't get extra points on the LSAT for finishing early. If you're already hitting your target score, however, you can just ignore me.
