@paulatkluu515 My goodness, I expected but didn't realize that networking, tailoring resume to what law firms are looking for, and drafting up a cover letter would be something a 1L should be doing. I will google the heck out of this and get started on them. Thank you so much for your advice! I appreciate it :)

You should definitely wait until next cycle. Writing your essays in a hurry and asking professors for LORs last minute is never a good idea. You have great numbers so if you start working on your application now I'm sure you'll have great chances of getting into top law schools! Best of luck!

How to prepare before law school starts!

So I just got into my top choice for law school! I quit my job in December and have been relaxing/fooling around since. But I'm starting to get bored and feel unprepared for law school. I have all this time (Feb-August) before everything starts up again this fall and would sincerely appreciate any advice on how I could be utilizing my time wisely!

Thank you in advance!

Yale 250

Does Yale 250 essay have to have exactly 250 words? Can it be less than 250? (for example, can it be 210 words? or should I fill it up at least to 245 words if I can't make it exactly 250?)

Thank you in advance for your responses!

@ctsoucalas903 I'm usually pretty on point in terms of guessing my score after the test but yeah I understand your point! Two cancelations do look pretty bad huh :( I guess I'll just have to hope that I didn't score below a 160 because if so I would have to write an addendum explaining why...tears

Thank you so much for your response though! I really appreciate it :)

**Seeing the results of the poll, I get that most people are recommending me to keep my score. Could someone explain why keeping the score is better than canceling for the second time? :o

But thank you all for participating in the poll! :')

Hi folks,

I'm basically in a mid-life crisis, panic zone here. Your help would be so greatly appreciated...

So, I just took the Nov 2018 LSAT. I think I did ok on the LR and RC but I really messed up on one of the games. The other three I had no problem with. But for one specific game about months (March-Nov), I could not understand what the first rule was saying. I was struggling to understand for about 8 minutes and ran out of time. Ultimately, I had to guess on four questions (I couldn't even make an educated guess sadly).

This is my fourth time taking the test. I canceled my last test which was on Sept so I only have two scores. My second score was a 165. Considering that I missed all four of those questions plus -6 on LRs and -6 or -7 on the RC, I would probably receive around a 165 or even lower on this test.

Do you think I should cancel this test (meaning this would be my SECOND CANCELATION which law schools hate) or do you think I should take the chance of just seeing how this score turns out? (even if that means getting a score that is below a 165).

I had LR, RC, LR, LR, LG.

My first two LRs had 26 questions each and my last LR had 25. I'm assuming that one of my first two LRs had an experimental.

In S1 LR, I had a question about Freud? I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right...

In S3 LR, I had a question about the economist talking about small and medium businesses.

Does anyone remember any one of these questions and if so, can identify which one is the EXP section? T.T (3(/p)

Thank you so much for your response Claire! Reading "unless" as "if not" makes so much sense to me!

But then does that mean that writing A unless B as ~A~ ---> B wrong to use in this situation? Because "if not" is basically ~B~ --> A (but this is the same thing as ~A~ ---> B because they are contrapositives of each other).

To describe my confusion further, if I were to apply the ~A~ ---> B to (c), I would get ~Ft and Mt~ --> Kt. If I were to do the contrapositive of this, wouldn't it be ~Kt~ --> Ft or Mt ?

But the answer says it comes out to ~Kt~ --> Ft and Mt. Why is that?

I'm still slightly confused over this question :/

Hello 7sagers,

I've been trying to make sense of this question for the longest time but I just can't seem to understand what the difference between answer choice (c) and (e) is.

Here's my train of thought.

We all know from the core curriculum that A unless B is

~A~ ---> B

OR

~B~ --> A

Given this, (c) states "Unless K is assigned to T, both F and M must be assigned to T."

(e) states, "Unless either H or M is assigned to T, K must be assigned to T."

So to put (c) into lawgic and if I put it in ~A~ --> B form, it reads, ~Ft and Mt~ --> Kt. If I were to do the contrapositive, it reads, ~Kt~ --> Ft or Mt.

Is this contrapositive right? The answer says that it's supposed to be contraposed back into ~Kt~ --> Ft and Mt but I seriously cannot understand why that would become an "and" statement...

But if I were to put it in the ~B~ --> A form, it reads, ~Kt~ --> Ft and Mt (which is the correct answer). I'm really confused as to why these two are coming out differently when it shouldn't be...

Please help! I feel like I'm not understanding the most basic concept of lawgic and it's truly giving me so much anxiety.

@minsuncha249 Thank you for your warm advice and congratulations on your 5 point increase! That's amazing!

It'd be a lie if I say that I'm not anxious (because I feel like 1.5 months is a short amount of time), I know that its about how effectively. This time I want to make sure I get the fundamentals DOWN and tackle the PTs I took again before taking the fresh ones.

Thank you all for your advice!

@gregoryalexanderdevine723 Thank you for your advice! I have around 8 fresh tests (but 5 of them are below PT 50 so they're pretty old tests..) I plan on going through the CC first and then re-taking the recent PTs and taking the 8 fresh tests when it gets closer to the Dec test...

If you don't mind sharing, could I ask what your study schedule looks like? I used to study 6-8 hours a day but would get burnt out really fast...but if I don't study like that I feel anxious. How did you find the balance?

How to start studying for the second time around

I took my first LSAT this September and just got my score back. I now have to study for the December one but I'm lost in where to start. I took almost all of the PTs from 36-80 but haven't finished the Core Curriculum. So I plan on finishing the CC but I'm not sure if I should be taking a PT every week from now on (but I took most of the PTs so I feel like my score will severely inflated) or...

I would sincerely appreciate your advice on how you all studied or plan to study for your second time around!

Average?

Are there any law schools that take the average of your LSAT scores?
