I am taking the August LSAT tomorrow, but im pting around 160 - 161 consistently, no where near where I want to be (169+). I am taking the October one since I know I wont get my needed score for my schools. I took up a job and life stuff happened and I fell behind on studying for a month or so (Wont work until October so I can study full time for retake).

Does anyone have advice/tips or routines that worked for them in that amount of time? My averages for each section are -7 LR, -8 LG, -5 RC. I know LG is the easiest to improve quickest, but I really feel like I hit a wall in timed sections and want to plan out a routine, and do NOT want to wait another cycle to apply. Any advice and tips are appreciated, thanks!

I think humanities passages are actually worse than science ones, because they can just word vomit the most pretentious snobby vocabulary like this

You probably are in law school already but I'll repost someone else's comment from below for anyone else confused. Although I agree its a bullshit question, you need outside knowledge.

Because this passage is under the umbrella of a legal passage it is one of those benefits certain individuals carry when they have prior knowledge on a topic.

To begin, the passage makes reference to the word “cases”(5),(20), & (37) to list a few line cites. It also mentions that the two researches use SS tools in line with “case law”.

When an individual familiar with case law; for example, if one took criminology, law and society, or other pre-law programs in university – the thing that pops up is “opinions”, these range from Popular opinion, Dissenting opinions, and Concurring opinions. These are all opinions of judges and sometimes other parties but mostly judges. So the only real “opinion” that this passage could raise mention to are opinions from judges.

On the other hand, a transcript of the case consists of all of the parties voices of the case, ranging from the litigants, the intervenors, witnesses, etc and this includes but is not limited to judges.

AC: D is saying that the latter gives us an opportunity to peak into the voices of other parties associated with the case and not only the judges “opinion”. This is how it differs from the “Policy Capturing Method”, although limited in time period, it’s open in perspective.

Hopefully this helps (:

We are in similar circumstances. My mindset is that sitting for June's exam will be good preparation for August's, and that (assuming I do better) showing gradual improvement in my score can only reflect positively?

Would definitely be interested in hearing what others have to say.

yes definitley what I was thinking might be good to gauge where I really am at, but I know schools look at past scores and that extra $200 makes me nervous haha

Hello, I quit my job in October and have been studying full time since for the June LSAT, however I was not at all consistent at first and am barely finishing up the core curriculum soon and do not feel like I will be ready for June so I am thinking of taking the August LSAT instead. However, applications begin a month after which leaves little time to prepare my personal statement and letters of rec from professors. Is it likely to hurt my chances if I don't apply within the month applications open this cycle? My undergrad GPA is not good so I am really relying on my LSAT score to get into schools (aiming for 168+, first pt at 155).

Would anyone recommend taking the June LSAT anyways just so I can see where I am at and know how to prepare for August?

This question is absolutely not relevant today and should be removed from the curriculum. I get that it was made in 1996, but it is such a reach to have to assume his face isn't symmetrical at all and have his friends not recognize him. Anyone taking the test now has access to smartphones and selfies and sees others faces flipped constantly in pictures, there is no way this questions can still hold true and make any sense.

this question is apparently from 1996, no way it would be relevant today with smartphones and selfies. absolutely bullshit riddle

its been a while since ur comment, but this question is from the 90s/early 2000s and they intentionally used confusing language back then. From what I understand the newer test use clearer language and structure to avoid stupid grammar like this.

-taken from a comment on a previous questions in case anyone missed it.

The key to solving this question is to eliminate C, D, and E quickly.

According to Powerscore LR Bible, the correct answers of parallel reasoning must consist of:

1. The same type of reasoning as the stimulus: such as conditional, causal, or all the flawed methods (note: there are at least 14 major flawed methods of reasoning, please refer to Powerscore).

2. The same type of property in premises and conclusion: absolutes, possibility, relativity, positivity, and negativity.

The stimulus uses "most" so you can quickly eliminate answer choices that dont use the same phrasing

the newer ones are not even this confusing, 90s-early 2000s LSATS are brutal

This was poorly done by JY. The generalization would be that "ANY professional meteorologist would tell you". The Meteorologist is generalizing the opinions of all his colleagues in the field to support his conclusion that temperature is affected by multiple factors, not just the sun. "All birds can fly" and "All kids eat cereal" are examples of generalization.

Yeah from what I have heard the wording is much straight forward in newer test, and uses less vague terms we don't use anymore. All the 90s test are so much more confusing than newer test so I would take your scores in these practice problems with a grain of salt until you get to the full timed PT after the course, since these problem sets only use 90s and early 2000s questions for some reason

Not to be a dick, but at the beginning of the course it explained the LSAT assumes you have received a COLLEGE LEVEL education. Knowing how light travels through space and the universe is highschool level physics. Even I as a non stem major can understand that light travels significant distances through the void of space, light years is a very common term in media, it is reasonable to assume a college graduate at least comprehends light travel as a concept.

^ for the comment above, no its not too late, you get your score back within 3 months and schools start admitting sometime in the fall usually, you will be fine. However, this is something you should be researching yourself and already be aware of, law school is a huge financial and personal commitment, it would be wise to familiarize yourself with the process before studying so you can plan it out and know what you are getting into.

Awesome, I got the exact same diagnostic score on 7Sage with no prep. Would you recommend integrating Powerscore after the 7Sage core curriculum? A friend gave me the 2018 Powerscore bibles to help but im not sure if mixing info from 2 different prep sources at the same time is going to confuse me for 7sage. I feel like some of the sections in the curriculum do become redundant, what did you feel was the best way to motivate yourself for so long?

Just wait for the next cycle, schools admit on a rolling basis and seats will be filled by then.

dont let it discourage you theres a lot of factors that could go wrong the day of, get a tutor/outside help, change your study habits, and focus on what you felt you struggled with the most
