I got the same interview request, Leah! I’d just about written Cornell off. Happy dance!

I’m feeling all of your pain right now, but it definitely helps to know that many of you are waiting on the same schools as I am. Admitted and visited UGA and Duke, and admitted and visiting UCLA, Berkeley, and USC in the next week. Waitlisted at Emory, but waaaaaaiting to hear from Georgetown (interview was almost 2 weeks ago!), Michigan, Northwestern, Indiana, Cornell, GW, and all of the top 6. I’m traveling in Asia for work, so it sounds like my Stanford rejection will likely be waiting for me in the post when I return. I’m a sunnny person, but it’s hard to stay positive with no news from so many schools.

Wait, Northwestern had a wave of responses? Still crickets here.

Still nothing from Northwestern, NYU, Columbia, Yale, or Texas.

This is what I get for applying at the end of the cycle.

@ UCLA is one of my five final options, but I couldn’t attend the ASW, and instead had to visit during their spring break. Would you mind sharing a little bit about your impressions? I met with two students and the admissions staff, who were all wonderful, but have not been able to see a class or meet with any teaching faculty. Any observations you would be willing to share? I attended formal visits with USC, Berkeley, Georgetown, and Duke, so if you have any direct comparisons, those would be especially helpful. Thanks!

@ Congratulations—it is a potentially good thing, as opposed to a definitely bad rejection.

@ Ye gods, do they realize many deposits are due today? I’m still waiting on 4 more: Northwestern, Yale, NYU, and Columbia. Expecting dings or w/l, based on results so far, but I do really need to know.

Can’t yet make final decisions, as I’m still waiting on scholarship info from 2 more T-14s. Sigh.

On the plus side, have officially announced departure from current tenured employment and am preparing to put our house on the market, so I’m committed to going somewhere!

But getting into the damn schools still hinges on grades that happened a decade ago. Lol

Past will haunt you no matter what anyone says!

@ — I feel your pain. My undergraduate gpa was from 20 years ago, but is still more important, it seems, than my graduate work or employment past. It’s frustrating. Good luck!

Also, remember you can transfer into the T-14 from lower-ranked schools, if you do well during your first year. If the top schools are your goal, there is more than one way to get there.

It was thoughtful and classy, sure. But I specifically told them in my interview that I was going to be traveling overseas for several weeks, so I was kept in suspense until I got home. It also means I'm dashing to make (very expensive) arrangements to visit at the last minute before deposit deadlines instead of being able to attend the most recent admitted students weekend. Classy, but inefficient.

Has anyone heard anything from USC?

Yes, heard early from USC.

Hi all, and congratulations to those of you with good news!

As predicted, a few answers waiting when I got home from my Asian trip, including my Stanford rejection. But what killed me is that I've been biting my nails about Georgetown for 3 weeks, and it turns out that my snail mail acceptance was sitting in my house (thanks, cat-sitter, for not passing it on!) for most of that time. No e-mail at all.

Still no news from Yale, Chicago, Columbia, NYU, Michigan, Northwestern, Cornell, Texas, or (strangely) Indiana. In at Berkeley, Duke, Georgetown, UCLA, USC, GW, Georgia, and Ohio State. WL at Harvard and Emory. Still waiting on $$ from several schools, too. Ugh. Really tough to make a decision like this without all the information.

It’s really unpredictable. I’ve been on visits on the west coast this week and everyone seems to be waiting on the same set of schools. And the decisions are really baffling. Everyone seems a bit confused, with people with identical numbers getting radically different results.

Hi Stephanie,

I work in higher ed and have served on admissions committees. I honestly wouldn’t worry about that address. It just looks like you might have a married name (Meister) or alternative family name. Nbd. We DO raise our eyebrows at obviously unprofessional names (likitslamitsukit16[at]gmail dot com, for example), but yours is basically inoffensive.

Good luck out there!
