PT1.S3.Q18 - United States proven oil reserves

So I just need clarification over why answer choice E is correct.

  • "amount of oil considered extractable is THE SAME as they were 10 years ago."
  • Annual consumption of domestically produced oil increased.
  • Reconcile what's happening.

Answer choice E says) Due to technological advances over the last decade, much oil previously considered unextractable is now considered extractable.

But I don't get why this is correct because it says, "amount of oil considered extractable is THE SAME as they were 10 years ago."

Please tell me what I am missing here!

    Thank you!

I have been reading this book called Atomic Habits! It might be helpful!

Even if you don't have the motivation, if you incorporate studies into your routine and make a habit out of it you will be okay! I know that was a really simplified and probably a dubious statement, but I highly encourage checking out the book.

You got this! Ease back into it and just make studying automatic. It's like brushing your teeth or whatever you do daily. It's just something you do.

I usually just run with the rules that I write down on my first read, but sometimes I make those silly mistakes. I also don’t want to waste too much time rereading the rules either before setting things up because right now I am still slow to complete games.

I guess it’s better to double-check because I would waste more time completing a game with incorrect rules and still get questions wrong. Ideally this is what I should be doing.

Honestly, I am just curious to see what everyone else does. Has it been a habit for you to double check your rules after writing them down or do you just read once and GOGOGO?

I heard that people can do this! It doesn't hurt to ask if they could write one for you now. The worst they would say is no and you're at square one but you were at square one to begin with. Best case scenario they help you out and you have less to worry about.

Also, focus on one or two professors to build a relationship with them - go to office hours or work with them on their research or something. If you work with them outside of the classroom, they'll still remember you and help you out! I asked a two professors after 3-4 years out of the classroom and they were still super kind and willing to help me with my letters of recommendation. I was so happy they still remembered me.

    Good luck :)

I absolutely agree! I think it depends on what strategy works best for people, and a balance between accuracy and time.

Some people are not good at finishing on time or have a tendency to linger on a question for a long time, trying to be accurate before moving on and at the expense of future questions.

Yes! It is read as they use natural gas instead of more polluting fuels.

Ex. I am substituting for the regular teacher today. (I am replacing the regular teacher for today)

I will substitute avocado oil for canola oil in my recipe (I am using avocado oil instead of canola oil.)

They are not moving away from natural gas and is actually moving towards it in place of something else.

Since you have your foundations down and you know how to get to the right answers, you probably have to keep drilling timed to get comfortable with the timed test and also employ a skipping strategy. Time management is a tough factor to juggle, and I am on the same boat.

What I found with my stronger sections which are LG and RC, you just have to cut your losses and move on to gain low-hanging fruit and maximize points. When you spend too much time on one question, and you have a bunch more to go you can't afford spending 2-5 minutes on it. Part of that is also knowing the test in and out so identifying the answer is instantaneous and you have to be confident enough to trust your gut. Knowing you can trust your gut comes from the hours behind the scenes and before the timed test when you've been drilling and studying.

I found the most gains in LG and RC where I trust myself and get to the right answer. I am still working on getting faster in LR, but I am guessing it's the same process.

    PT9.S2.Q18 - Local group parade

Okay so I can see why E could be the correct answer. But I just wasn't sure whether there was both government inaction (maybe the government is just but they are acting) and he did everything in good faith.

I chose B. I took a contrapositive of the principle and it seemed to fit. Maybe that's not the right thing to do, but I was between B and E and I wasn't sure about E.

Can schools see if you withdraw from an LSAT?

I am registered for April, but right now I am having second thoughts about sitting for it since I am not scoring where I want to.

Will schools see if I withdraw from the test? Also I tried to move it to June, but my coupon expires in April so it won’t let me move it to June. I’ll just register again and pay the regular amount, which is fine.

Also will schools see how often you’ve moved your test date around?

Did you jump around the common core?

I am 40% complete with the common core and have been laboring over LR for a while now. I jumped into the Logic Games to change things up.

How did you all proceed through the common core and how long did it take for you to finish the curriculum?

I am drilling reading comprehension and I average around -11 timed, not able to finish answer questions, to getting around -3/-4 untimed. I feel like I take forever.

Any tips on bridging the gap? Completing all passages on time? Links to your favorite resources or tips already mentioned in discussion forums?

Thank you very much in advance.

    17. D

Passage A - Unreasonable consequences could be doing something that does not take into account harm and general trust.

Passage B - Doing everything to them that they are doing to us.

This one was hard. I still find it difficult to see how I could do this on my own without knowing this explanation.

I got 2 wrong because I did not pick up on sharply divided. I honed in on the part where Ginsburg concedes, so I was like oh okay she must agree somewhat and chose mild disapproval.

Opinion on practicing LR sections under less time?

I recently read somewhere that it helps to do LR sections in under less time than 35 minutes (let's say maybe 32 minutes). For people with more experience in LR, what's your opinion on this?

Do you think it's something worth trying? And if you've tried it before did you find success in applying that method?

    Thanks!!

I am currently BRing steadily in -2. In today's practice section I got -2 timed and untimed, but my timed score fluctuates depending on whether I finish everything on time or not. I wondering if applying this method could force me to be faster.

I chose C for this one because I wasn't sure about any of them. Can someone explain why the answer is D?

I was trying to contrapose it back but because the stimulus has an "or" statement that confused me when I was diagramming it.

The reason why I didn't choose D is that even though the bookstore does not have exclusive access to a specialized market, I thought that since it could cater to mass tastes and be still be profitable.

What do you think?? What's the best way to answer this question??

I would love to Blind Review with someone - anyone! I am starting off my LR journey and it could be great to bounce ideas off with someone else. My LR scores are not very consistent yet and can range from timed -9/-3 and BR -5/-2. I am trying to make my way through the earlier tests and eventually PT the more recent ones. I struggle most with timing and that accounts for most of my missed answers, but I think I'll get into the groove eventually.

Let me know if you can make it. The BRing will happen regardless, but come join me if you are available. It would make me very happy to meet some people and learn some stuff :)

^^ I copied that from my last post and modified a bit. Sorry for the repeat if you already saw this.

This question was killing me, but ended up getting it correct last minute. I gave up and chose A because it did seem to clearly resemble the flaw in the stimulus.

I was thinking of C, D, or E, but because I was confused I specifically decided to figure out and articulate the flaw: the original has a problem, so the copy also has that problem. I was looking for this and I ended up choosing A.

This question hurt my soul. I chose C for the reasons other people stated before - just because they had an efficient technique doesn't mean they actually made lamps using that technique. Similarly I was torn with E, since just because they made more kinds of lamps doesn't mean they made more lamps.

Hey!!! I think it's awesome you started to practice the more recent tests. As long as you keep pushing, reviewing, and working through it, with time you will eventually get the hang of it. Don't give up :)

    Greetings people!

I purchased an iPad, and I am wondering what are people's experience with using it for their studies.

I thought it would be nice to work with during my BR and drilling. I am trying not to waste a ton of paper. Since the test day will require me to use paper, I will do my practice test with traditional paper and pencil.

Do you like it? Do you hate it? Pencil and paper all the way?

Thank you. I am just curious!

The conditional relationship in E threw me off and I thought about it as a correlation. This is the wrong way to think about it.

Significant risk of collision → a lot of time on the road

a lot of time on the roadSignificant risk of collision

I understand the contrapositive of this relationship much better. Of course there are many ways to have a significant risk of collision even if you don't spend a lot of time on the road like poor vision, being drunk, etc.

I noticed this was like a sufficient assumption question, and I wasn't sure if that was fine because this was a necessary assumption question. Note to self: Sometimes the necessary assumption answer is like a sufficient assumption.

    Confirm action

    Are you sure?
