This question at first was very confusing to me until I read each answer choice carefully. I chose B because 1. It did not specify the species that was being referenced, and 2. "...presence of sunspot activity and its absence," which was the key phrase that made me choose this answer. We are looking for an answer choice that does not support the zoologist's reasoning. If something can occur with or without the presence of sunspot activity, then it would be an alternative explanation for the hare population changes, which does not support the zoologist's reasoning. Hence, why B is the correct answer.
I haven't taken the LSAT but I am down for this if you're okay with someone who hasn't taken it yet
