I am so confused.... do we not always say that information about a sample does not necessarily imply information about a whole population?????

Who cares if a larger group A of people POLLED felt one way and a smaller group B of people POLLED felt another? We can't make a claim about people in general based on this. How is that not the flaw.... #help

It seems to me that answer choice B is criticizing the conclusion no? We are supposed to simply take at face value that we should look at the blemished origins of a discipline, so who cares what chemists do NOW? Isn't the point that the author didn't actually prove or even evaluate the scientific value of chemistry and that's why the argument is incomplete (i.e. answer choice D)?

For question 4, even though I now see that C is the only choice that makes sense, I got really tripped up by the word "convinced". I can't say the author seems too convinced - he says "attributes of bipolar systems MAY HAVE created the necessary parameters for general peace." How do we know whether we are being sufficiently detail oriented or just overthinking? #help

I'm still unsure as to why AC D is a better option than A. If most voters cannot identify Reade's position on campaign issues, doesn't that strengthen the premise that the voting public is unable to evaluate complex campaign issues? Or is the issue that that premise isn't James's in the first place?

Now, on to why A seems correct to me: If Reade's opponents are discussing the same issues, meaning all that factor is held constant, wouldn't that help strengthen Maria's position that discussing complex campaign issues is NOT the reason why Reade is popular? #help

First-time applicant - advice

Hey everyone,

Would love any advice about how to strategically approach this application cycle. It's my first time so I'm a bit nervous. The goal is to get into a T14 to study technology law. I work full-time and am willing to wait until next cycle if a top school isn't in the cards for me.

My numbers:

  • 3.84 LSAC GPA from a top 40 undergrad with a STEM degree in cognitive science.
  • I took the LSAT for the first time in September and received a 169. PTs ranged 169-173.
  • I know admissions is mostly interested in the numbers, and I'm in between 25th and 50th percentile in both categories for the T14. My absolute dream would be to attend Northwestern (also applying to Georgetown, Duke, UVA, and Penn, still deciding on the rest). My question is - would it be better to apply Northwestern Early Decision with what I have now or retake the LSAT in November? Do I have even a slight shot?

    For more context, soft factors:

  • First-generation American and first-generation law student
  • 3 years full-time work experience (post-grad) in the digital advertising space. Completed 4 relevant internships during undergrad and am now in a Manager position. Resume includes several prestigious healthcare/pharma companies
  • Earned a data privacy law certification from IAPP (organization for privacy lawyers) by passing their exam, which is apparently a gold standard in that specialty and is mostly awarded only to practicing lawyers. AI Governance certification from the same organization is pending.
  • 3 letters of recommendation, two from professors (one of which was a research supervisor), one from a former manager
  • Two semesters each of undergraduate research and TA experience, helped to develop curriculum for a course
  • Leadership positions in several student organizations
  • Personal Statement about how I entered the digital marketing world after majoring in neuroscience and how data privacy concerns have led me to pursue law school
  • Diversity Statement about my identity as a Russian-speaking American (family from Ukraine) and being impacted by the situation in that region, how being first-gen motivated me to pursue law and why I believe it's an asset
  • Personalized Why X for nearly every school I'm applying to
  • Thank you all so much for even reading this :') appreciate your help!

I thought that answer choice C attacks the point that lobsters live too long to be impacted, since if they breed in contaminated water then the young lobsters that are born in this water are immediately contaminated!! E seems like exactly what we were trained not to choose. I'm confused....

Can someone please help explain why C is a better choice than D in this case? I'm getting confused bc J.Y did acknowledge that D is descriptively accurate... so isn't that what the farmer is doing wrong?

It seems like "they didn't address the claim" is such a vague copout type answer that could be used for many other flaw questions. D seemed to hit on what J.Y typically talks about, i.e. what if there was some other factor impacting this?

For #11, how can "commenting on society" be perceived as a "neutral" statement as J.Y is explaining here?? If someone is making a commentary on society, they are clearly expressing an opinion on it. Doesn't the passage explicitly say that Lichtenstein was not trying to make any particular statement with his art?

I just don't understand this explanation. There is a big difference, for example, between hanging a painting on a wall to ADMIRE (i.e. an aesthetic sense) and worshipping a painting depicting a deity (religious display). If something is displayed for religious reasons, this is clearly not simply because it looks nice.

It really seems like C is supposed to get eliminated on a subjective technicality. Depending on how it is interpreted, religious DISPLAY does not necessarily imply aesthetic sense at all and thus is a valid alternative explanation.

D, on the other hand, mentions other uses of flints IN GENERAL but not the highly polished ones.... couldn't it still be the case that flints were generally used for hunting and everyday chores BUT the highly polished ones were kept in caves for aesthetic purposes?

Frustrating. This question seems to go against what we are taught. If anyone has a better explanation please feel free to share.

Why is it correct to assume that if the patient was told to sleep more, he/she would worry about it? This answer seems far less attractive than B....

For Q24, I don't understand why answer D is incorrect, since the passage says "math attempts, AS OTHER LANGUAGES DO, do accurately describe...etc etc" #help

D seemed like a very fuzzy answer choice. Can we really assume that just because people described an election as "not important" when they were polled, that they didn't vote when it came time for the election? That seems to contradict everything we've been taught to do so far. What if they change their minds? What if they feel on principle they should exercise their right to vote regardless whether it is important or not? How is their feeling whether election is important contributing to the discrepancy?? Confused :( #help

Is it correct to think that A should have been chosen the moment we see "more than sufficient"? It's not necessary that it be MORE than sufficient... the size of the impact could have just been sufficient (no more no less), right?
