I thought it was E, but now I see why it was wrong, because although it talks about red wine and heart disease, it tells us nothing about fat intake, so may be these people have very low intakes of fat and that saves them from heart disease. The problem here is the negative effects of red wine that would effect Americans and B correctly covers this issue. :)

I want to explain why I got this question wrong I did not understand the stimulus correctly. What the stimulus is saying is that the scientists belive that there was an asteroid collision in the Yucutan Peninsula that put enough debris n the atmosphere that it blocked sunlight and cooled the atmosphere, and without the sun and food the herbivorous dinosaurs would have dissapeared and no dinosaur could have survived the low temperatures. Heres where the gap comes in that these scientists believe that the debris launched by the asteroids could have settled on the ground within six months, so after this period all the consequences of the debris were gone and everything returned to normal, but this was not enough time for the dinosaurs to dissapear. So? My be the debris affected them in some other way

A. is wrong because it doesnt help us fill the gap

B is wrong because if anything it would weaken the argument and make the gap even bigger

C. just gives us numbers

D. is the trap answer choice its telling us that the asteroid itself was very large and it could have killed a lot of dinosaurs itself and the tidal waves could have killed a lot of dinosaurs but this does not explain the extincion, it could have killed a lot of dinosaurs but not killed all

E. is the right answer choice because it provides us with an alternative explanation, the contamination in the air by the debris made them susceptible to respiratory diseases that killed them, this would be strong enough to kill all of them off!!
