Necessary Assumption Key(Loophole)

I have been struggling with Necessary Assumptions questions for a while. After rereading Ellen Cassidy's Loophole book I have finally had my eureka moment. In all honesty NA questions after using her methodology are not that hard.

Identify conclusion(Obviously)

Identify Premises(Bear with me)

Attack the argument like you would for a weakening question

Negate your Loophole

If you follow those steps you will begin to see major improvement in your NA questions. I think the reason for this because most tutors reccomend that you just read attentively when doing NA questions, but this course of action enables you to be on the offensive rather the defensive when looking at NA questions.

I have noticed that when it is a question type that is focused on attacking the argument I do great. So, this course action enables me to do what I'm good at.

If you have any questions PM!!!!!

@ That is why it is imperative to understand the premises. If you understand the premises you can come up with Sufficient assumptions from each of the premises.

@ I know this is going to sound harsh but practice. You have to get comfortable doing it then it becomes second nature

#help Could you say that the assumption is: Assumes that severe hardship is in someway connected to total suffering

Hey guys just wanted to impart some wisdom. Sufficient Assumptions questions are easy if you follow this 4 step process.

1.Identify Conclusion/Understand it

Identify Premise/Understand it

Isolate the Conclusion(Important)

Anticipate a Trigger that would force the the conclusion to happen

Instead of thinking about SA questions like you need to fill in the blank. Think of them like a handgun. All you need to do is pull the trigger. All SA is a pull of the Trigger/or a push of the roller coaster button. Once you start to think like this they become so easy.

DM me with any questions if this helped

Powerful vs Provable is the Key to LR

I think I have learned the key to LR.

Overall you can classify most LR questions by the type of answer they are looking for.

  • Powerful: AKA answer choices that are broad and strong
  • Provabe: AKA answer choices that are not broad and are specific
  • Powerful Question Types

    Strengthen

    Weaken

    Sufficient Assumption

    Paradox

    Provable

    Necessary Assumption

    Flaw

    Main Conclusion

If you focus in on these chareteristics of correct answer choices you will be able to rule out most of the time 3/5 answer choices. Leaving you with a 50 percent chance to get the answer correct. Once you've done this you look at the two answer choices and look to see whats wrong with one rather than whats correct about one.

    Confirm action

    Are you sure?
