Books to read before law school

I’m starting law school in September (in Canada) and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on books to read before starting 1L.

If you also have personal advice about how to handle first year, i would appreciate that too!

Thank you!

@dipanchenko724

Hey,

So i actually started around may/june and finished after the december test.

I didnt study weekends and i skipped a couple months inbetween too, so it wasnt “really” may/june - december.

I was doing maybe15min-30min every other day near the beginning,

and in the end around 2-6h daily about 4 days a week. If you’ve got specific/other questions, feel free to inbox me.

15 isnt a long shot,

I got a 23 point jump, it’s all a matter of how much you want it and are willing to work for it

@kimberleemcmillin935 i just wish i did it before taking the lsat! It would’ve been so much easier to deal with under lsat conditions...

It’s burnout.

I was doing well on LR then all of a sudden the last 6 lr sections i did were very strange.

Id go -2 on one then -10 on the other, then -1 on one and -9 on the other.

For the past months i was never going lower than even -5 so -10 and -9 was shocking especially because it just suddenly occured and yet would be followed up by a -1 right after.

I think it was just burnout to be honest because my actual lsat was the very next morning and i actually did pretty well on my lr sections. It’s best to just take a break from it as you probably are also just experiencing burnout.

You might need more than a few hours like i did but a couple days of rc/lg and less lr should do the trick, or even a few days off from lsat studying

I know this thread is old now but anyways, i’m done having to ever study the lsat thanks to the dec score and since i don’t have to worry about looking exactly the same as my lsac account photo, i finally went with the ritual and cut my hair after the lsat lol. 10 inches gone and donated.

Maybe we can make haircuts a common “end to lsat” ritual lmao

Just an update for Ontario applicants, OLSAS finally received the december score and so i'm guessing the universities will have them too very soon!

If you’ve run out of lsats, try doing them starting with the very very first ones you worked on. Hopefully some of the questions from those will have been forgotten by now

Thanks, hopefully they recieve the december score soon, so that the algorithm factors in the new lsat score

Dont worry, i doubt you will be sitting with your back towards the clients for them to ever see it anyways

Ontario(Canada) law schools

  • Does anyone know how long it takes for your applications to be reviewed on average? I sent all my Ontario applications by the nov1 deadline but each one is still pending review... how long will i take before they take a look at the application?
  • Also,

  • When will OLSAS and the Canadian schools recieve my december lsat score from lsac?

I scored 10 whole points higher than my september test, and my score was slightly above what my pt scores were

    Lsat permitted clothing for december

I know this is odd to ask but is there any rules against wearing say a coat during the lsat in the winters? I'm planning on just wearing a long sleeve and hoping the centre isnt cold.

Canadian schools ask you to let them know which other tests you’re planning on taking and they have your lsac code so they just update as they get your scores. If you have a score they like i dont think they’ll wait and not reply because they see you’ve signed up for february too
