How can you tell the difference between Strengthening Qs and SA Qs?

A number of the strengthening qstems are worded as "most strengthens" or "lends the most support"...wouldn't "most" imply making it valid? (aka SA)?

V confused. Pls help.

@ @ @ thank you for the advice! Because I have the starter pack, I dont think I have as much access to a greater QBank...is there anywhere else I can go to get more questions (besides just simply upgrading)?

Struggling with LR...HELP

So in the debate between LR v LG...I'm one of those LG people. I'm averaging about -2/-3 on LG, but a brutal -9/-10 on LR. Specifically, I'm struggling with NA, SA, and Flaw questions.

Any advice/pointers/tips on how to tackle this hurdle? I just finished PT38 and am seeing a very consistent (aka through my past 3 PTs) pattern, namely that I STINK at NA/SA/Flaw. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Count me in if there’s still room! I’m looking to take it in June

I think it’s very important to have a balanced study routine....this includes taking time to unwind. If you’re having trouble falling asleep, I’d highly recommend taking anywhere from 30-60 mins at the end of the night to unwind.

Watching an episode or two of Netflix and drinking a glass or two of wine (I personally prefer whiskey) will help you get those sleepy eyes real quick. Plus anti-oxidants from the wine is an added bonus lol

First - I think a 5-7 score improvement is possible - but only with extensive practice. Figure out your weak points, continute practicing all others and go for it. Then, if you are PT-ing DOUBLE your goal score by the time December rolls around then yes, I say take it. I say DOUBLE because scores tend to fall from your PT scores and I learned, from being on this forum, to shoot for double your goal score. If you get the score you want in the Dec test then I say yes, go for it and apply.

Now, if you are not PT-in in the range you want then I say wait. Its SOOO hard to make that decision. I made it a few weeks ago and will be testing in either Feb or June. I'm hoping to be ready for Feb but if not, then June it is and if so, I will have to skip a cycle.

Now, here's the kicker - I am in my 40's. Soooo, no dear, 27 is not too old. I ask myself that question regularly but this is something that I really want, its my dream and I do not feel old. I have a plan and until I exhaust all avenues, I will continue on with that plan.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you!! This is actually so awesome to hear.

Depends. Was your miss due to execution or knowledge gaps? It may be difficult to answer that question objectively but i’s important because t will guide how you study.

As for age, I feel you but try not to sweat it. I’ll be a few years older than you when I start. It’s fine. Really. I think it is an arbitrary timeline we hold ourselves to as NT students. In the end, the differenof a few years means little

It was definitely more knowledge gaps than execution, but obviously both played a part. After taking the Sept exam, I realized how important timing on each question is. On the other hand, I went into it knowing that I was gonna struggle big time on RC and was very weak with certain LR question types.

I also work full time so would a good way of studying be to PT and BR on weekends and drill, drill, drill on the weekdays? It's tough to get PTs done on work days and I feel like im not helping myself by taking PTs after work when my mind is already drained.

Is It Too Late?

So I was really hoping that my Sept score would be enough for me to comfortably apply to the schools that I'm targeting but, like many of those who sat for the exam, I left discouraged and fell short of the score I wanted. After waiting that month to get my score back, it has taken a lot out of me to get back into the study grind. Is a month and a half (mid Oct - Dec exam) enough time to see an increase in score (hoping for 5-7 point improvement)?

The point: I graduated from undergrad a couple years ago and if I wait to apply next cycle, that would essentially mean I'd be starting law school at the age of 27. Is that too late? And furthermore graduating from LS at 30? I really want to apply this cycle but I also don't want to rush this process and risk bad study habits along the way for the sole purpose of forcing my application. Also, I don't want to apply any later than after the Dec scores come out bc of scholarship money etc, etc.

Is anyone in the same boat as me or have any advice? The December exam is QUICKLY approaching and I'm not sure what to do. Help

Getting back on the lsat study horse was hard enough, so focusing on personal statements and applications feels like a whole other beast. Fwiw, I underperformed on the sept lsat and would also be interested in any tips on writing addendums. Sorry I dont have any useful advice....I'm pretty much useless other than studying right now lol

Just seeing this now...but if you guys are still getting together, let me know! I'm in Grad Hospital and would love to get a group together

I went to pre-order this and it says the release date will be first week of Oct. Seriously not releasing this before the Sept exam??? Does anyone know why they would do this (besides the obvious money factor buying the other tests individually)?

Isn't it possible to have the same section order (LR LG LR LR RC) but not have the LR's in the same order? Can't my third section be someone else's first? Etc? How can you determine from order alone?

yeah, totally possible.

did u start drinking yet

TBH I'm in my home alone. Stairing at a wall....it's all I can get myself to do...hahaha

drinnnnnkkkkkkkk

I may seem all cheery but I'm dying on the inside from this -27 on RC I'm about to get hit by

Right there with ya bud. I figure about a week-long bender give or take then right back on the grind.

Did anyone else think the LG was stupid easy? Also did anyone else have a problem with one question?

Oh yeah--LG was real easy. If I recall correctly, I had most difficulty with the third game. The first two were a breeze

There was an RC experimental passage about abstract thinking and primitive art. There was also an experimental passage on immunity to lawsuits. I have no memory of any passage mentioning the pyramids or the louvre or astronomy--are there multiple experimental versions?

Yes-- I had 2 RC sections. The section with the Louvre was experimental. It seems like a bunch of people had an experimental LR section (3 LR sections) broken down as LR LG LR LR RC.

Btw-- RC as the 5th section after 2 LR sections is brutal. Tough to power through that.

I had RC LR LG RC LR. Was really hoping that the first RC was real, but turns out it was experimental. Judges passage and Freud/Marx passage were ridiculous. LG was pretty easy and LR was par for the course, if not a little harder.

Hopefully there's a decent curve, though doubtful considering June's RC was brutal, as well.

December's looking pretty nice right about now.

I had two LG sections, there was this game with 4 posters in 4 theaters in months of Sept, Oct and Nov that almost made me cry on the spot(hoping this is the experimental)...overall, i thought the test was not very easy for me, barely finished RC and didn't finish one of the LR(which i usually finish 5 mins before time is up)...perhaps its due to a combination of far away testing centers and arriving at the last min possible...ughhh so disappointed. Luckily this is just me trying to get off WL, well time to cancel score...

I only had one LG section and don't recall this game so I believe that that section is experimental!

Minority Question...does this matter?

Let me preface this by saying, I am a minority. The purpose of this is in reference to an article I read a couple days ago regarding affirmative action in higher education admissions (not trying to ruffle any political feathers...but if you want to read the article, I attached the link at the bottom).

As a minority, is it true that admission officers prefer certain sub-sects of minorities over others? For example, do they prefer Filipino applicants over Chinese applicants, or Mexican-Americans over Cuban-Americans (as referenced in the article)? And in the case of Asian minorities (hint: I'm Asian), does it help to specify what type of Asian you are, if it will indeed be preferred by the school?

From what I've been reading, it basically doesn't give you any advantage to say that you're simply Asian, but I'm wondering if it actually does help if you specify what type of Asian. Anyone have any experience with this?

I'm also working full time and studying, and I feel ya...it's tough. But as @ said, its better to do something than nothing at all. For those of us who work full time, it's exhausting coming home from work and having to use more mental power and fully concentrate on studying. 4 hours after sounds great, but we all know that it doesn't always happen. Sometimes you wanna rest and take a short mental break (which can turn into an hour) and then getting back into grind mode is an entire challenge of its own.

To me, it's always quality over quantity. Even just studying 2 hours a day at complete attention is better than disturbed and half-assed 4 hours. So, my advice is to do it when you can, but make sure you're able to really focus. Because, if you study for 4 hours and cant even remember what you just learned or reviewed, then you've just wasted 4 hours that you'll never get back.

Also, with Labor Day coming up, I've also taken a few vacation days just to study and treat it like its a full time job. Of course those days will be spent with timed PTs and BR, but having that Monday off can really help you.

Best of luck!
