this question tripped me up because i didn't understand the question stem properly. what it is saying is reading the stimulus here is an example of some veg, that are grown in soil that was never fertilized, or treated. that means if it was not fertilized then there has to be something that is keeping these bloody bastards alive....right. so, we know that the soil cant be drained of nutrients...cuz then nothing can grow, BUT, the example, which we need to assume is true, is saying there is veg that can grow without fertilizer.....so how.

well.. the gap is that... the veg were grown in soil that had some nutrients, but we don't know if it was rotated. so its not necessary for it to rotate.
