It's too bad I'll never get to see my results since I'll have long since died from stress by the time they're released (kidding... mostly). Trying to keep my mind on other things like seeing all those friends I've neglected the past few months where every sentence out of my mouth included the word "LSAT."

Viruses threw me off a bit as I was reading but I ended up quite enjoying it once I got the hang of it. Definitely a tougher one though.

LR Chess wasn't experimental, not sure about the journalists and entertainment question

Personal Statement future goals help

Hi all!

One of the schools that I'm applying to asks specifically for applicants to answer how they see themselves using their law degree in the future. The other part of the question is why you're interested in pursuing a legal education which I feel I've answered well but I'm more worried about the first part.

I don't necessarily have specific areas of law that I'm interested in pursuing at the moment. There are a number that I'm interested in but I'm really hoping to get some concrete goals when I'm actually in law school and see more realistically what that kind of work would entail. My worry is articulating this in my PS without seeming like I'm completely directionless. One thing I'm thinking of mentioning is that I'm interested in law with an element of dispute resolution and arbitration which ties in with my background but I'm not sure if this is specific enough. Should I mention a specific area that interests me (e.g. aboriginal law) or is there a way that I can say I don't really know exactly yet where I'm headed? Hopefully this worry makes sense but if not, I'm happy to clarify anything that's unclear. Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate any insight :)

Hey, I just want to say I'm really sorry :( I'm in the same boat with scoring lower than expected. My score is also only a couple (3) points higher than my diagnostic and I felt really terrible yesterday and am still kind of blindsided by it.

Talking to a friend about everything I'm feeling really helped me -- I hope you have people on your side you feel support you too, and, if not, I think you've got a whole community here.

I'm thinking more and more that I'll rewrite in Dec. I want to take this frustration and channel it into determination to do better than I did this time. I don't feel like I've hit my ceiling yet and I would hate more than anything to look back at this later and regret not going for it when I had the chance.

I'm not saying this is the right decision for you and I don't think any of us can but I hope you know that you're not alone in this. If you were feeling burned out, maybe try taking a PT now that you've had a break from the LSAT. I've heard stories from people who came back stronger than ever after giving their brain a bit of a break and I hope you're one of them. Good luck.

I set up meetings with both of my referees and caught them up with where I was in the application process (they both already knew I was applying to law school) and asked if they would be able to write me a letter. My prof whipped out a notebook and went through a list of questions that he said are his standard for LORs (what kind of law was I interested in, work/extracurricular experience, schools I was applying to, etc.). I asked him if he wanted me to provide any additional information/documents and he said no, he had his process down.

My other LOR (work) just asked generally what kinds of things I'd like her to talk about in the letter and what I thought schools may be looking for. She's already really familiar with my resume/what's stated in my PS so I didn't offer to send those (though I would have if she'd asked obviously).

If your referees have just asked for more information in general, I would send them maybe the highlights of things you'd ideally like them to touch on in your letter? Whether that's a blurb/rundown of your PS or a CV. Also, this might just be personal preference, but I found it really helpful to sit down with mine and actually have a discussion about what it is we were both looking for. If that sounds daunting at all, I think you'll be more than fine if you prep for a couple of obvious questions (why law, etc.) :) Hope this is at all helpful!

I would say don't cancel if there's a chance at all that you got the score you wanted/needed. Worst case, it's a lot lower and you have to retake but at least in that case, you get to see how you did under actual test conditions and the specifics of your performance (i.e. if there was a particular section where you underperformed). If you cancel, you'll never know :) Plus, most schools will take your highest score (you can look up all the schools you're applying to) so you're likely not losing anything by keeping the score. Hopefully you'll even surprise yourself with how well you did. Good luck!

@ You're not allowed to go back to a previous section and darken answers/bubble any you missed once time for that section is over. Goes for at the end of the test as well

Good news too is that UOttawa is super GPA-focused so hopefully that takes some of the pressure off if yours is strong!

My 2 cents:

I took the test yesterday and had a really similar experience to you. I was feeling really great for the first part of the test (had 2 RC + 2 LR, so LG was my last) and just could not think around a lot of games 3 + 4. Combo of a few things I think (including heat in the room + medical history for me) but I really felt like I might pass out during that section which obviously did not help. Thinking back more calmly and rationally, I'm hopeful I might have been able to save some points by calming down toward the end of the section but it's hard to say. Also, this was my last section so I'm reasonably confident about my performance for the other sections.

How are your points usually distributed? Do you count on LG for your scores? If LG is usually not the strongest section for you anyway, maybe the difference in points between here and what you normally get isn't as wide as you think it might be. Maybe the first LR and RC could help compensate for that and the last LR if you think they were strong. How confident are you about the last LR? Were they educated guesses or just random bubbling? I don't know the answer to any of this obviously, I'm just trying to suggest some things to think about from someone who was in a similar experience.

On cancelling... I think it's really tough. I tend to agree with conventional wisdom that barring a catastrophe, it's better not to, especially since this is only your first take. I know it's a personal choice though and really, only you know what's best for you. I'm assuming you're in the US? I'm Canadian but I would say look at the schools you're applying to and if there's any way your scores could put you in the running there. If you cancel, you'll never know what might have been a really decent score -- this may or may not be an important factor to weigh in your decision. I know that for me personally, there have been a couple PTs where I thought LG was way off my average (and I wasn't wrong... they were pretty bad) but the overall score has turned out fine. I really think there's some truth in the difficulty of the sections balancing each other out a bit and it seemed to me like yesterday's test did that.

I have no idea if any of this will be helpful but just want to reiterate that I (kind of) know how you feel and I'm sorry the test didn't go the way you had wanted to + prepped for :( Good luck with the decisions ahead <3

I think leopard magpie was (something about motivation being avoiding predators vs attracting mates), definitely church organ and iguanas on island.

Birds and nests maybe? There was one about poison ivy plants that included that in an AC.

I had the experimental RC and SO glad the Rawls one was real!! Esp after a potentially disastrous LG... From your list, pretty sure violinist/pianist LG is exp.

Confirm action

Are you sure?
