i'll be cranking up some slayer, chugging energy drinks, and doing jumping jacks and probably some form of martial-arts derivative in the parking lot. which is great, because im testing at a school im applying to :)
i should say an implied "should" or implied "intention to change," I see that it isn't written anywhere in there, but when they put "before" in the credited response, it seemed to me to imply some actionable step that wold occur afterwards that doesn't seem present in the passage. Sorry this ? is so lengthy!
Here's a concern that somehow pushed me to choose "C" even though "E" felt somewhat closer to right upon first glance - in the Credited Response conclusion, it states that "We need to be aware of the impact of change in science before changes are made" - but nowhere in the passage does it state that after review of the possible effects of the changes, those changes should be made. In other words, there is no "temporal" indicator nor an "implication of duty" to make those changes that leads me to believe that, even after reviewing the impacts and finding compelling data, the author concludes that changes should be made. While Jon states in his explanation that the intro sentence "The way science..." is simply a fact, it reminded me a lot of the conclusion from the previous question in this problem set (re: citizens and voting, etc.), and I chose "C" because, while "E" feels more like a conclusion to be argued for, all the elements of "C" are actually present in the passage, while "E" assumes the "implication of duty" to change science, etc. I realize that C leaves out all reference to price... But what do you think about the test writers addition of this "should" to the credited response, and how do I avoid overanalyzing this kind of question in the future... Thanks!
i actually took that test in sept, for real, and got -10 (no joke) on the rc on the actual test. worst. section. ever.
