wow, I was considering this myself... but now it is almost like why bother? and it is so wrong that they changed it on that date... so wrong. Good luck everyone I know that has to be frustrating. I am just going to have to PT with more distractions in the back ground and hope for the best.

Websites that will help with RC?

Hey guys been MIA, trying to get ready to move out of the country & all... but my question is... what websites do you know of that can help with reading comprehension? I can't really get a subscription to anything as I will not be here... but I was wondering if you knew of any websites I could possibly read daily? My reading comprehension is strong, but until I am not missing a single question every time I always have room for improvement :) Thanks guys!

ok so I took my diagnostic...

I am in a range that I was hoping for but I am clearly going to have a long road ahead of me but I am not discouraged I was really worried I would score a 120. I haven't taken a test like this in 10 years or ever really. Here are some things I noticed by time the last section came into play, I was starting to glass over... now that could be because it is late... but I am thinking it is simply because that test is HARD and my mind started wandering... I am hoping this was common for everyone on their diagnostic. Will training & studying help? I mean did it help you guys to take PT after PT... I am pretty sure I missed 5-6 questions at the end because I started to check out plus it was reading comp and wowza that was a lot of reading.

Second according to my results I really struggled with parallel reasoning & method of argument... and of course logic games. I am hoping this gets easier with drilling. Any tips or is drilling where I need to focus.

I got in the 140s, the school I am hoping to get into I need about a 157 or greater (for the part time program) while I would love to score a 170 because uhhh that would be awesome I am trying to get in the 160-169 range, which I think is feasible. I hope.

Well thanks everyone for your help today! I am sure I will ask a million and one questions between now and test day so thx again.

Nontraditional student study prep?

I am taking my diagnostic test tonight and I am suspecting it will be a little rough, as I have not taken a test like this in a decade. I am considered nontraditional as I graduated undergrad 10 years ago... and my understanding is that LSAT is weighed even heavier for non traditional students. Has anyone else heard this? Also any advise on studying as a nontraditional student? I have a full time job and I am finding that in the evenings it is really hard to study for long periods of time because I am just drained. Any tips? I am pretty much at stage one and I am prepared to dedicate 1-2 hours a day during the week and a little more on the weekend, but any tips would be great.

Deciding which program to buy?

So I am probably going to buy one of the courses this weekend, I am planning on sitting for the Sept LSAT that being said I am not sure which to buy, I can't spend a lot right now but I love the way the courses are taught in the free class. So my question is... if I spend the $349 can I upgrade to the $549 later... or is that just the extension? I like the idea of the questions with video explanations. Thx!

Audio books?

Hey guys, this weekend is going to be a bad study weekend for me as I am going to practically be driving and working all weekend, does anyone know of any good books I can get on audio to help me study??? I figure if I am going to be driving 4.5 hours to San Antonio I might as well utilize it and listen to a book. Any suggestions? THX!

Test 7 questions & observation

SO I just took Section 1 LR of the Feb 1993 LSAT to help me drill and practice studying. I am going to blind review it this evening and then score it.

First does anyone know where I can watch videos of explanations? I know we are fortunate to have the Game review here... but not LR. The Question stems appeared different & I think I might have misinterpreted some.

Second, I used the proctor app with moderate distractions. I was distracted. SO I am going to continue to use the app with distractions to help me train for that... but please please please give me advice on how you train for that. Every time that guy "yawned" I wanted to hit him. :) I was like dude did you NOT sleep last night we have the LSAT today. ha! So any tips there would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, I know I have read that the tests have changed since 1993, which is why I am using these tests for my lunch time training, just wanted to make sure that was correct. I don't think I did as well as I would have liked in this stage, but I know and felt better than I did on my diagnostic test so that is major improvement.

Thanks guys, I really don't know how I could do this without you :)

I'm back and have a question

Hey 7-sagers.

Anyway I'm back from my Central American adventure and it is time to get serious! Are there any DFW study groups out there??? I'm taking the June LSAT and I'm ready to get my 180 or at least a 165 lol I think a study group would be a fun (but serious) way to dissect the LSAT. Let me know!

Also to answer your question about previous job experience I was an insurance adjuster that worked with attorneys actually... I investigated fraud and handled bodily injuries :) SO it is relevant and I was pretty good at it... I just really went at it with my boss due to human rights issues and that he was an asshole that treated people poorly. Sorry he still gets me fired up... I have never met a bigger jerk in my life. So I can use that experience because it actually gave me a lot of insight into the legal system, I was able to go to mediation, court, and I negotiated with 100s of attorneys all over the US. I will include it that is for sure.

Thanks guys... I am pretty big into volunteer work and public service and I have already decided my personal statement was going to reflect that... I have been working on that for quite some time and it is finally at a point that all my readers are like yeah it is good... I am going to send it off for professional editing and call it a day... but then I started reading about the resume and I was like... ugh. Another thing that shows how poorly I did in college because I rather have had fun... like I semi referenced to that in my personal statement... that I took education for granted because of my time volunteering in Guatemala... I really am a changed woman... you know stuff you learn in your 30s

I am trying to get those ordered now so I can have them when I am ready to start taking prep tests... if this has been answered previously sorry I just couldn't find it. Thanks guys! Extreme words

Thankfully, things are starting to click in regards to logical reasoning... I have a long uphill battle but for the most part I am starting to get somewhat comfortable with the type of questions.... I have just made one observation on LR questions however... I have picked up that "extreme words" are often not the correct question choice correct? Meaning.. words like only, never, always...

I am just trying to verify this before I train myself to think this way and then come to find out... I am way wrong. This whole process is cleaning out some serious cobwebs so if my question is weird that is why.

I also found that I was often falling for answers with these words in them, and the choices were wrong. I am constantly getting trapped by the LSAT haha I am just hoping I figure all those traps out prior to taking the actual LSAT :) Thanks guys!

an to piggy back even further.... should I write an addendum for my GPA??? I mean it was 10 years ago and I was pretty damn childish so again that is not really worthy of a paper... because it was the truth. It wasn't because I was ill... or had to take care of ill parents... it was literally because I wanted to go out with friends. Sigh. the application is just as stressful as the LSAT. Any help would be great guys. I know this is two buffaloes and I should take one on a time... but I do need to start taking care of this stuff....

Also why is CAS so expensive? (that was me bitching... and rhetorical, unless of course you know why then please share)

resumes...

OK guys... so it is time to start cracking down and getting that application all pretty... except, I am a non traditional student that just decided to up and quit her job last year to volunteer and I don't know... not work??? I mean I do work now in retail a girl does have bills... but her is my issue.... I want to go to Texas A&M in Ft. Worth... they want a resume... here is the description...

The applicant’s educational background, honor societies, military service, extracurricular activities, public/community service, honors and awards, publications, foreign language proficiencies, and any other significant achievements and involvements.

Educational Background- ok easy... except I you know, like most typical non traditional students... drank and partied too much and I sure do not have any honors.... I mean I have a year I could go back to school... but that is a last resort

military service- None

Extracurricular activities... I am pretty sure jet setter and binge novel reader isn't really an answer.... any other ideas??? or things I could do to make this look better... remember I am 35 and a decade removed from college...

Public Community Service- I am going to discuss working with kids in Costa Rica and volunteering with an animal shelter in Mexico... I am also about o start volunteering with various human rights groups here in Dallas... I also make chew toys for the local animal shelter out of recycled materials... I do a lot of community service thankfully this might be my saving grace.

Publications- Sounds cool... not published. Open to ideas.

Foreign Language... sigh still not fluent in Spanish... but getting better every day. I would like to list Spanish but I am assuming they want fluency... not hoping to be fluent someday.

Any other significant achievements... I got nada... I have 6 months to achieve something so I am open to ideas.

Guys I am frustrated... I can discuss work history... but quitting a job to volunteer in Costa Rica & Mexico... then coming back and working in retail just doesn't sound great you know???

Along with the LSAT this my current "Admissions" hot topic... so give me ideas guys I need them...

Thanks

-The pretty boring Jen.

It's just insane I forgot how much I struggled in college with studying.

I might apply for accommodations I'm still on the fence

Start drilling LR?

OK I should finish the LR curriculum tonight. I am really feeling much better about my grasp of the concepts, however I am still falling for traps. So my question is, do you feel it would be beneficial for me to use old practice tests and drill each LR section. Here is what I am thinking. I work 40-60 hours a week. I have a very demanding job and I am right at the start of busy season, so my work week will start being closer to the 60 hours a week, so I am trying to cram as much studying as I can into my day. I do typically take a hour for lunch. So I was thinking... that I could take a timed LR section at lunch, then blind review it in the evenings when I get off work 1-2 times a week. Then score, obviously. Do you think this practice would work??? I was thinking about using the earlier tests... as I do have copies of those. Or should I just wait until I am 100% done with the curriculum. I do not plan on using tests 36+ as they are part of the curriculum, but I thought this might work as far as practice during the day, as we are what 10 weeks out, I know every little studying I can do during the day will be beneficial.

I really don't have an option of taking the December test. September is kinda my do or die test... simply because starting in Aug/Sept my work schedule gets frantic. I am actually taking the week off before the test to get zen and calm... because my job is about to get that insane, but that is a whole other topic for another day.

what do you guys think? I am trying to figure out how to get 30-45 minutes of studying in during my lunch break, because I just eat salad and take a walk, and normally that takes 20 mins of the 60 minutes I get.

Any tips or tricks you used would be awesome! thanks guys!

Timing for my ADHD folks

So I am ADHD but truthfully I have not been medicated in years, well since college. I am pretty positive I will have to go back on meds for law school... but anyway I digress... I am finding I am getting frustrated and bored during the sections and then I start rushing to finish and we all know how that can turn out. What are tips you have for that??? I am beginning to wonder if I should go back on medication to help study... but like most adhd folks I hate being on the meds because I feel zombified. How do you keep focused? Even if you are not ADHD I am willing to listen, because I am just drilling 35 minute sections right now... When I start taking tests at the first of the year... I really do not want to burn valuable tests... because of this. Anyway thoughts? and don't worry if you think I need to medicate I won't get offended because my mom and dad informed me I needed to get back on medication so I can nail the test anyway lol

PS miss chatting LSAT with you guys...

Hey I wanted to jump in on this one, just like you practice the law you will have to practice the LSAT. It is learnable and you will have moments where you go aha! and it will be a point jump. You are starting at a great point because you have plenty of time to practice and learn before you sit for the LSAT. You are 100% in the right place and you can totally do this, there are countless stories were people have improved 20 points and more with hard work! Welcome!

After completing the CC

I have been flagging questions that maybe didn't sink in as I go, so I can go back an review. After you complete the CC would you go ahead and take a PT? and then go back and refresh where you are weak?? or would you go back and refresh on skills you didn't pick up well? I am not sure if I am ready to burn tests just yet since I am going to be traveling and teaching ESL so I am wondering if I should just keep going over CC and then take the tests closer to when I take the LSAT... which right now to be honest is in the air... as I have gave myself a window of Dec through June... and accepted it is ok to start law school in Fall of 2018... I just know I am going to finally be complete with CC soon and I don't want to burn precious tests if I am better reviewing.. or should I burn a 40s test to see where I am and start over??? Sorry my ADHD brain thinks about this stuff and won't shut off until I have a plan ha! Thanks guys!

When do you start taking tests?

I am currently working through the course and I am wondering do you typically complete the entire course lessons before taking another test? My diagnostic was test 56, so I still have the 2007 I can take. Should I take it now, that I have a more basic understanding... or take it once I am completely through the starter package course??? I guess I am semi desperate to see some improvement :)

So... thanks to everyone's input

I just wanted to share with every one that you guys rock, I have been very stressed about the LSAT and law school in general. SO I have decided to make some serious life changes. First I am not going to take the LSAT until after December... I want to be prepared and I want to be in the 165 plus range and to be quite frank I just don't foresee that happening in September.

Second, I have quit my job to teach English as a second language in Costa Rica. One of the reasons I have decided to pursue law is for human rights specifically with the child bride issues in other countries. (I know we don't really talk about our passions but that is my passion and reason for pursuing law) and I need to learn Spanish. This opportunity will help me learn Spanish, plus give me plenty of time to study for the LSAT so I can hit my goal score... who knows maybe even a higher score?

I know it is odd saying a bunch of strangers helped me realize all of that, but the encouragement and the constant "law school isn't going anywhere" made me realize that I can in fact pursue my passion & take time to work on other passions while studying for the LSAT.

So anyway long story short... I am going to be around for quite some time and thanks for making me realize I do in fact have time & it is not the end of the world if I do not take the Sept LSAT. I mean what is the difference between starting law school at 34 or 35??? Not much in the grand scheme of things.

Confirm action

Are you sure?
