was PT72 very difficult or was it just me

did anyone else find PT72 wildly difficult? i took it earlier this week and got absolutely wrecked. granted, i wasn't in the test-taking mood when i sat down for it so i knew i probably wouldn't be scoring my best. and i did guess the entire last logic game (seriously wtf was that?). but even LR destroyed me and that's usually a very reasonable section for me.

im signed up for the january test and my score for PT72 was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than my last few tests :(

Please let me know if they grant you the retake as I had an issue during my test and they said I wasn’t eligible for the retake day

I've heard good things from people on here about getting a BR study buddy so here goes! I'm taking a PT in the next few days (taking on Wednesday, hope to BR on Thursday) and would like someone to blind review my answers with. Ideally I'll be taking a test in the high 60s (haven't decided which one yet), but I'm flexible. If you're also taking a prep test this week and would like someone to go over your blind review answers with, please comment or send me a message. Just for reference, I'm scoring around a 163 and have done all the PTs in the 80s except for 88 and 89.

troubled by my prep test timed + BR scores?

hi all. i've been studying full-time for this test since april. my diagnostic was a 150 and after all these months my average is hovering around a 159. in fact, it's been hovering around that since i finished the core curriculum and i haven't really seen any improvement. the thing is that recently my BR scores, which earlier would stay the same or be BELOW my timed scores, are skyrocketing. my BR score went from 160, to 165, to 169, to 172 just now. this is a pretty big disparity and i'm just confused as to why my timed scores are still bouncing around from 157, to 161, to 158, etc. i was told earlier that scoring high during blind review is good because it shows your potential/how much you really understand the test, but i'm starting to wonder how effective it is if my timed scores aren't budging. i'd appreciate any insight on this.

just as a note, i think a 159/160 is a good score, but given my low GPA i need to be in the high 160s to get in anywhere. thanks in advance.

Taking the test today at 12:30. So nervous I don’t know what to do with myself. Hopefully I calm myself down soon. Wish me luck everyone

GOOD LUCK!!! I am writing in 45 mins ahh. I recommend going on a walk if you can (listen to music or a podcast etc.) I find it shocks my brain and really really REALLY helps me focus

haha i just went for a walk! GOOD LUCK on your test. everything will be fine.

I was given a coupon for a free test from LSAC that I used to sign up for the October administration. Upon seeing my August LSAT score I need to postpone my test. LSAC's website says a refund will not be issued if I withdraw though.. does this mean my coupon goes out the window and I have to pay for the November test? Kinda confused

Something that I learned from my previous experience for any nervous test takers today...I found covering the red light that indicates the webcam is on to be helpful! It doesn't interfere with anything at all. Just is less stressful than to have a creepy red light staring at you

This is a great tip. Knowing I’m being “watched” makes me feel hyperaware of myself and way more nervous.

I’m writing today at 12:30. I’m trying to tell myself this will be like any other prep test I’ve taken. There’s no reason why it should be any different. Good luck everyone!

i studied half heartedly in the summer of 2018, planned on taking it in fall 2018 but got too busy with school and had to postpone it. didnt start studying again until around may 2020 and studied full time until now. i had a 150 diagnostic, took the test twice, cancelled once and got a 158 on my second one. im writing the january test tomorrow and i'm pting at around 165. i think it just took me a while to decide if i really wanted to do this, because going to law school is a huge commitment.

i know that we're allowed to use 5 sheets of scratch paper total, but are there any restrictions on how they're allocated? eg if i write on all 5 sheets during the games section, am i allowed to use any remaining space for lr and reading? or am i prohibited from using those sheets again once the section's done?

You can use them however you want!

im going to continue to go through logic games to stay sharp (i have a list of really tough ones i want to try), since i need to practice those constantly to be on my game. i'll also do some logical reasoning 10 in 10 drills. i'll do my logic games and LR drills the day of my test too, just to warm up.

i have a wrong answer journal so i think i'll also study that. as for RC, i actually don't really study passages. i think i will read some science or economics magazine articles. those are my two worst subjects for RC.

same, except i will read a couple of passages tomorrow night just to stay primed. I'm not letting off.

there's so much I want to review but can't really fit it all together.

That sounds like a good plan. And yeah, I’d love to have another week of studying, but I feel like this is just one of those experiences that I’ll never feel fully “ready” for. Just have to jump in.

To those who took it, how did this test compare to your August flex experience? I know there were a lot of different kinds of tests but overall I think Powerscore said August was pretty hard. Just curious

feeling defeated.

hi all. i just saw my august score and to say i'm disappointed is an understatement. i've been studying full-time since april and my score was lower than any of my prep tests. it wasn't even that far off from my diagnostic.

i think what i'm most upset about is that i've spent so much time and money preparing and i feel like it's gotten me nowhere. i have no excuses for why my score was so low, especially since it wasn't my first time taking the test AND i had a good feeling about it after. i need at least 8 points higher to be considered at my law school choices, especially since my GPA is so low.

clearly i need to reevaluate my studying habits but i'm so beside myself i can't really think straight now. i'm just overwhelmed by how much i probably need to change up, defeated by the lack of progress and really anxious about whether or not i'll even be able to apply this cycle. i was signed up for october but i'm pushing it back to november now. i'd appreciate any advice/words of motivation.

you dont even really need to include the first sentence in your logic map:

if ordered by a judge or her editor -> she will reveal the identity

the info is about safety at a power plant

conclusion:

she will reveal the identity

if the info is about safety at a power plant -> a judge or her editor will order her to reveal the identity -> she will reveal it

i really lingered on E but ultimately got rid of it because the stimulus only talks about behaviour, which isn't the same as understanding how to use something. C describes behaviour

Congrads to everyone who finished today! You must be somewhat relieved! I can't wait to be finished with this exam....I've never written the flex and just hoping someone knows whether size matters for the 5 pieces of paper allowed. I write really big and am worried 5 pages is not enough. Also can i use pens or do i have to use pencils? Also when i show the protactor using my phone my surroundings do you just shut it off then and can you slide it away? I don't think i own a small mirror so wondering how it works with the cell phone.

Thank you!!

i think its 5 pieces of regular printer paper. and to my knowledge you can use pens or pencils, i didn't an issue when i used both. and regarding the phone, i showed them mine, then shut it off and threw it under a pillow on my bed. they ask to see where you keep it.

i dont think so because you have to assign letters to each application. i know grad schools let you pay, submit your application and then continue working on supporting documents until the deadline but for LSAC im pretty sure you just submit everything as one package.

LSAT Writing - Should I reset it?

Hi all. I took my LSAT Writing sample for the August 2020 test at the beginning of September. With 18 minutes on the clock, the program froze and deleted everything I had written. I speed rewrote my essay but obviously it wasn't the best it could be. When I got the receipt of my essay, I saw a typo, too. I called LSAC the next day and told her about my issue and asked to reset it, and she said she would. Now it's September 16 and I'm still not seeing any change under my LSAT Writing tab. Score release is supposed to be in two days.

I'm on the phone with LSAC again and the lady (who is super nice) told me that she had no record of me asking to reset my sample and if I reset it now, I may not get my August score back until October 7. I'm signed up for the October LSAT so obviously I'd like to get my August LSAT back before then. She read my sample and told me that it's really good and told me there was only one typo in it. Is is worth resetting my sample? I'm applying with a low GPA so I really want every other part of my application to be the best it could possibly be, but I'm wondering if I'm just putting too much energy into something that's not really worth it. It is unscored, after all.

Tips for Parallel Flaw Questions?

Anyone got any tips/strategies for tackling PF? They're my worst area. I do pretty okay when it's a common invalid argument form but often times I can't really see what the flaw is if it doesn't follow that. Also not sure when to map out the stimulus and when I shouldn't.

Advice on Penn State Dickinson Law

Can’t believe I’m writing this but I just got my first acceptance of the cycle. Penn State offered me a full ride (including for the second and third years) and I’m beyond surprised. I’m an international student, so I don’t know much about it. It was one of my last choices when applying but after getting a full ride + reading about it online, I’m actually quite intrigued! I was wondering if anyone else on here was also accepted or is currently studying there? Would love to know what it’s like, what the town is like, etc. Thanks!

LSAT Writing tech issue - should I complain?

Hi all. I just did my LSAT writing for the August test.

With about 18 minutes left, while I was at the end of my second paragraph, the program started lagging significantly and froze. It was stuck like that for a few minutes, and then I saw that my second paragraph had been deleted. I rewrote it and finished the rest of my essay in a rush but did not have time to go back and proofread. Literally as I wrote my final word (typing was still slow for me because of lags), the clock hit 0. After the test I went back and read my essay and there were some typos. Not terrible, but I know that if my work hadn't been deleted, I would've had at least 5 minutes at the end to proofread. Is this worth complaining about and rewriting for? Has anyone had success with redoing their LSAT writing? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm taking the July LSAT Flex on July 14 and I was wondering how everyone else is spending these last couple of days before the test. Are you still hitting the books hard? Will you be taking any breaks before the test? What do you have planned for your day-of/day-before routine? I've read some discussions where people take a day or two off before the test, so I just wanted to see what everyone else has planned.

Why isn't my score increasing?

Hi everyone. I'm currently PTing at around 160 with BR at around 162. I've been scoring relatively the same for about a month now. After every PT, I BR, watch the videos for the questions I missed, take note of the question type, and drill those questions. I'm scoring the lowest on RC and LG. I take about 2 PTs a week and genuinely feel that I've made improvements after drilling - only to be hit with the same score every time. I'm also a little concerned about my BR scores being so close to my timed scores.

I'd like to increase my score by about 10 points, but I'm just not sure what else to do to get the results I want to see. Does anyone have tips for getting over this hill?
