Can you treat SA questions just like a strengthening question?

I was wondering if instead of trying to bridge the gap of the premise to conclusion to make the argument valid, we could look for the AC's that strengthen the conclusion and eliminate the rest and then from that point determine which AC strengthens the argument the most?

No. While strengthening makes the overall argument better, there will be some instances where an AC strengthens a conclusion but does not make it logically valid as the correct AC does. The test writers will make you pay for this approach. I would advise trying not to approach SA questions as strengthening ones.
