Has anyone tried Manhattan's RC strategy? It seems like a waste of mental energy to me, but other people swear by it. If any of you have tried it, I'd be interested in knowing your experiences. Thanks!
It can be helpful to approach RC looking for what the different "sides" or POV's that are presented in a passage. That's the extent to which I've used the scale method. Didn't hurt because I saw it as a likely time sink from the outset.
TD;DR: read for reasoning structure. Different POV's are elements of reasoning structure. If the scale helps you hone in on that, cool. Otherwise ...
Thanks. Manhattan seems to place some crazy amount of emphasis on "the scale" above following the reasoning structures which seems a little weird to me. I don't understand why it's so popular.
Also, RC needs a tl;dr at the end of each passage.
