For example, if I look up the word "apple" in the dictionary, I get "the round fruit of a tree of the rose family, which typically has thin red or green skin and crisp flesh. Many varieties have been developed as dessert or cooking fruit or for making cider." Does this relationship always create a biconditional? Just curious.

Therefore even though X is defined as Y, it might also be true that A, B, and C are defined as Y. Or X might also be defined as D, E, and/or F. So unless there is strict one to one mapping I don't think your hypothesis holds up.
