are schools required to contact you / update your application to "denied" if you're not accepted? a few of my applications have been "in review" for over a month now and i wasn't sure if i will still be contacted if i'm not accepted.

    They will definitely let you know if you are not accepted. The status checkers vary by school though, it may or may not be updated. But the school will definitely let you know either by email or snail mail. (And don’t worry! 1 month is extremely typical, and often people wait 2-4 months if they apply early. It’s a mixed bag, but most schools will take at least a month to get back to you.)
