Unless you are a _really_ fast reader, I don't recommend writing them down. J.Y. doesn't (you can see in his LiveCommentary videos). You should do it in your head.
I do record every PT and make a timing sheet each time like J.Y. does. (cf. J.Y.'s timing sheet of PT80; click "See timing sheet here.") You can see that he never spends more than 40-60 seconds on 1 or 2 star questions.
