So if I write a well written addendum explaining the reasons behind the crappy GPA, will that give me a better chance of them looking at my most recent GPA?
I also think your resume should speak to what your potential addendum would be saying. They will be able to see that you were working 25-35hrs/wk during the school year, so long as you list that on your resume.

also @apawalter (or anyone else), was just curious if you see any room to make addendum statements in Canadian applications? It seems to me that addendums aren't as much of a thing in Canada. Have you come to the same conclusion?

I'd say no. Disliking a major isn't really a good reason for an addendum, imo. Just apply and see what happens. if they for some reason ask you about it in an interview then just tell them, but yeah don't do the addendum
