Hi,

I'm not sure why C is the answer and D is not.

I thought all the sentence before the last one support the last sentence.

It seems like C comes from the second sentence.

In this stimulus there are two "but" and was not sure which is middle-conclusion and which is the main conclusion but I thought it's more natural that the first one supports the second one.

Could anyone explain why C is the answer? And why D is wrong?

Thanks in advance

"Promotions are overused" is the main conclusion. It doesn't support anything as far as I can tell.

So one of them is conclusion which is supported by a premise while also supporting the main conclusion...thanks :)

    Try reading it both ways:

Promotions are overused, therefore they cut into profits and undermine loyalty.

    or

Promotions cut into profit and hurt loyalty therefore these promotions are overused.

The overuse of sales just doesn't make sense as a supporting statement for the fact that sales can be counterproductive. But sales cutting into profits is great support if you're trying to argue that sales should be used less.
