Certain interpreters have misunderstood Marxism to be a political program. Why? Because it is a scientific theory. It is a scientific theory because of the way it describes a particular historical movement.

The social scientist has provided support for why Marxism is a scientific theory, but she has not provided support for why it is not a political program. We need to know that a scientific theory cannot also be a political program.

It doesn’t matter if it is as rigorous as it is claimed to be or not. Based on the argument, it would not affect Marxism’s eligibility to be both a scientific theory and a political program, and that is what we are trying to disprove.

We can’t assume that because the goals of one group are inconsistent with the goals of another group, that two products of those groups (scientific theory, political program) could not both be found in the same body of thought.

We’re not trying to prove that Marxism is a scientific theory, we’re trying to prove that it is not a political program.

Also, (C) does not confirm Marxism to be a scientific theory: we don’t know that “purely” is accurate, and, even if it is, we would be confirming a necessary condition, which doesn’t allow us to infer anything.

This matches our prediction. If (D) is true, then the social scientist can validly conclude that some interpreters have incorrectly labeled Marxism as a political program.

We are not trying to predict the evolutionary path of production. We are trying to conclude that Marxism is not a political program.
