I just wrote my Yale 250 in 3rd person. Is that weird? It's an argument about the origin of jazz music.

I agree. That it's written in third-person is certainly not on its own weird. Now if you make it weird, that's a different story, haha.
As long as it works stylistically and doesn't feel forced, I don't see why it would be an issue. It sounds like an interesting topic :)
