I've been practicing with a basic analog Casio watch with rotating face. However, I've blacked out all the numbers past the 35 minute mark and painted several time markers on for quicker visual reference to help with my pacing strategy.
Does anyone know if this will cause any problems on test day?
I don't have a test day experience yet, but I've never seen this mentioned as a flagged issue and I almost always read the comments after the tests. However, to be safe, maybe have a spare watch along.
I have heard of other test takers making similar modications and not having issues on test day. The risk you have to consider is having an overzealous proctor who might heckle you over those modications.

Shouldn't be a problem at all.
