No, the .04 difference will not matter much for T13 acceptance. Both are very competitive GPAs. To put some numbers on it, here's MyLSN chances of acceptance for each (I used 170-174 LSAT as a solid T13 range for estimation purposes):

    3.82

    3.86

The tiny bit of GPA may help out a bit in the T3, but otherwise your results are pretty much the same.

Lol a 0.04 increase is not going to sway any admissions committee. And, regardless of any microscopic advantage that they think could occur from this GPA increase, the academic and personal value of having an experience at Oxford will far exceed any value that a 0.04 increase in GPA could ever produce. This experience could positively affect future coursework at their home institution, positively affect their decision about taking a gap year(s) and what to do with it, affect their mindset when completing their law school applications, and even affect their career choices down the road as a lawyer. I mean the possible domino effect is endless. In my opinion, Oxford is definitely the better choice!

No way is a .04 increase in GPA going to matter more than a year in Oxford. Idk where your friend goes to school, but odds are Oxford would be more fun and better for him/her as a person, anyways.
