It is real that sometimes it can take even up to 6 months to get a response (though that's more common if you applied super early, like September). However, no a school will not just never give you an answer. Even if it doesn't happen until mid-summer, they will eventually give you a response. The "ghosting" people are referring to is just an extended period of time before getting an answer. But if you stick it out, they'll eventually respond.
