I am concerned that I can get fewer questions wrong to get the score I want with the flex as opposed to the original LSAT. Does anyone know how LSAC has explained this? Thanks!

Not speaking for LSAC here but broadly this is true. The curve will be tighter in an absolute sense; maybe you need to get only -7 or -8 if you want to score a 170 (whereas on the "real" LSAT the curve would be -10) but the fact of the matter is that there are less sections ergo less opportunities to get questions wrong as well so perhaps those things wash out...
There is some speculation that the better testing conditions and a shorter test will push up the curve since people might over-perform in these conditions relative to the "real" LSAT so maybe LSAC tightens up the curve on the backend to account for this?
