Hello guys,

I have a quick question for y'all concerning two answer choices in this question. I believe it is critical to understand why answers are wrong — especially for "weaken except" questions. In this situation, while I got the right answer, I'm still left to wonder how and why answer choices B and E weaken the argument.

Thanks!

I think this is a good question. I eliminated most but I listened to JY's explanation.

LFL patterns correlate positively with mood

    So, LFL activity causes mood.

Task: make it less likely that LFL activity causes changes in mood.

B - depression causes sleep which lowers LFL activity. This shows that the cause/effect relationship could be reversed.

E - depression inhibits social interaction, removing a means of stimulating LFL activity. Again, this shows that the relationship could be reversed.

When presented with a causal claim remember to look for ways to show:

    Cause without effect

    Effect without cause

    New causal factor

    Cause/effect is reversed

    Problem with the data.
