Hi friends. I took the LSATS in August and got a 146. I studied for two straight months aggressively, retook it in October and got a 148. I'm extremely discouraged. I plan to take it again in January and apply for Fall 2026. Any advice when discouraged?

I have been in a similar position with feeling discouraged, I took about a year off between attempts (November 2024- September 2025) I studied all summer, at least 4 or 5 hours per day (with rest days of course) and was prep testing with a projection of a 10 point increase, but I was really hard on myself and took too many prep tests and my score actually went down by a point even though that was the most I had studied. Burnout. You really need to just get into a routine that works for you personally. I know people who studied aggressively and got amazing scores but that wasn't right for me. You need to sleep and take multiple rest days per week and not let LSAT dictate your mood. I think that when I retake it this next time, I will improve just because I remembered to take care of myself. Also, it sounds corny but everyone really does have their own path and I can guarantee you, there are hundreds of law schools that will accept you with the score you already have. You will be a lawyer regardless of what score you get, this is just a little hurdle in the grand scheme of things!
remember why you started! you don't have to be perfect just be consistent. keep working your close
I was in same if not worse spot like you. If you are in the 140s Did you complete the foundations before actually going into drilling? I was stuck in the 130s -140s because I kept drilling without having actual understanding of what each question type is asking because I was too lazy to see what is being asked because I lacked the foundations. I recommend taking the time to actually go through the foundations again to understand each question types and when you take your PT, analyze how you do in whatever section you worked on and you should be getting all those questions from the PT right. You've got it!! Currently PTing in the late 160s and definitely is because I went through the Foundations again to fully understand and I am able to analyze what part I should be getting right based on WHAT I AM LEARNING IN THE FOUNDATIONS.
This is not a test that you can do a speed run. Studies have been done on this test and it completely remaps your brain. Also studying for this test has been shown in another study to raise your IQ. A lot of people, including myself, have reported that they can FEEL their brain changing/growing.
This added with the fact that this is an endurance test. I once knew a person who was in the 130s and it took 2 years, but he got a perfect score.
Also bet that you didn't give your brain rest. GIve it rest!
That's natural, don't let it linger over. Sit in it for a minute, but use it to fuel your determination to get the job done. Remove any factors that may influence your discouragement. Such as the expectations family and friends' have of you. Only talk to people who understand exactly what you're going through like your lsat study group and peers. Then, come up with a study plan (action plan). If it offers solace, 1st attempt 2023 right after I completed undergrad 144, second attempt just a few months later 148... I was studying while still in undergrad. Its the end of 2025, I plan on taking the test in January with 3 more attempts left. Exhaust all of your resources. Which platform allows you to interpret and apply the strategies more effectively. Whichever one that is, be consistent. Spend time with the material. Take breaks when its necessary ! Not when you want to give up. ( that's when you study the most). Take a break when you feel so exhausted you're no longer retaining the information. I have not taken a full prep test yet I will start that in November, but I feel more confident in understanding the strategies more.
