I have my heart set on taking the January LSAT and applying for the 2026 cycle. I am finally PT-ing where I want to be and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
My mom is insisting that I register for both Jan AND Feb. I have tried to explain to her that Jan is already super late in the application cycle and that Feb is not something I am considering. She believes that I should absolutely register for Feb as well.
My thought process is that Feb would be a complete waste because if January doesn’t go well I would most likely have to wait for the next cycle to apply and therefore would certainly give myself more than one month to retake the exam. I am concerned that schools will see and judge how many times I have registered/taken (I have already canceled August and I took October).
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Assuming the cost isn’t a factor, should I register for both?

I dont see a huge advantage in reregistering for both right now. Take the January one, and then, if your score isn't what you want, reassess and see if you want to take the February one or if you think you need more time. There's no reason to rush into a $200 investment. If you're still feeling uncertain, I would definitely recommend purchasing score cancellation.
Honestly, maybe you should? I'm taking both bc I don't feel 100% confident about the Jan test, and giving myself a second chance motivates me as well.
Here's a question: are you applying to T-14 schools? I'm applying to a T-100 and although I am applying pretty late considering it'll be my January or February score, I still am before the deadline and my odds are not completely shot down. If you're applying to a T-14 school then yeah, maybe you should wait until next cycle. But still take the February test, bc you might do better on the Feb test depending on the questions they have. You never really know. Plus you'll still be on that post-studying kick and accuracy so you don't feel rusty when you take it again.
As for the number of times you've taken the test, you can always write an addendum! You might not like hearing that but schools could also interpret your several tests as commitment to getting into law school. Either way don't worry too much <3 ultimately its your choice but I would go for Feb too.
