Hello! I have currently been studying for the LSAT since mid January 2026 and plan on taking it in June and likely August. However, around the beginning of February, I fell a bit behind on the core curriculum and I've been playing catch up. For context, I'm a second semester junior in college, I've found that I have a lot of time during my breaks, but obviously not as much time when I am at school. My main concern is that I feel like I won't be ready to take the exam in June. I start the practice test period this Monday (3/9) so hopefully I start to feel more confident, but right now I am at a standstill. Does anyone have any advice? Would it be optimal to postpone my exam till August, or take one in June and then August?

I recently spoke with an Admissions Director, and he kindly reminded me to not look at the pace of others. We all have our own journey. Application season feels like an all-or-nothing, when in reality, there are many test days. Different paces. Different cycles. There's pipeline programs, study groups, and overall support out there. Some days will suck, obvious questions will look impossible, but progress is progress. The pressure we put on ourselves is in our control. June is three months from now-- it's okay to feel not ready right now.
Currently in the same boat.. working full time, finishing up my masters, and I have 3 kids. recently got surgery done and fell behind like 8 days. i was supposed to start the practice period this past week. i took a diagnostic at a 149 back in feb so im like would i be good to score mid 160s in June?? I want to be able to get my app early so i can qualify for good scholarships but im at a standstill. i think im giving myself til right before the deadline to register for june and see where my PTs are hitting. if theyre not close to my target, im going to postpone to august. if theyre close/hitting my target, i think im going to test june and leave august to retest which puts me in a good place with early decision. and if i HAVE to retest (which hopefully i dont) then retest in october.
I’m actually in the same boat as you. I’ve decided that I’m definitely not going to take June since my semester ends in May and I would only really have a few weeks of practice without any academic strain. I recommend doing August and then if you plan on doing early decision or early action taking either in September or October. As of right now, I would like to do August and September but I am OK with pushing to October if I have to.
