Hi,

I noticed I consistently perform much worse on Science RC passages, even with blind reviews, and it takes me much longer to understand the arguments. I feel like the answers to different kinds of passages almost come more intuitively in a way that just doesn't happen for the science ones. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or has tips to work on this!

Thanks :)

  • This is where having a STEM background comes in handy. I was a Biomedical Sciences major in undergrad and the science passages all feel familiar. I've maybe taken 1 PT ever where there was a science concept introduced that I had never heard of before. Of course I didn't know every concept on every PT, but being at least familiar with all of the basic concepts and topics really helps in those sections. Like other people say, the only thing you can really do to gain this familiarity without studying it in school is to study it on your own (reading science articles, learning basic biology, etc.)

I definitely had this issue too at first - honestly the best advice I can give is just drilling tons of science passages. Once you read enough science passages you get a feel for the general flow, they stop being as menacing, and they feel more like other passages. I've heard some people recommend things like reading science journals, but nothing will be as close to an LSAT science passage as an LSAT science passage.
