Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on next steps. I applied this cycle and was not accepted to the schools I was hoping for, including Barry Law and Stetson. I’m disappointed, but I don’t want to stay stuck in that feeling. I still want to go to law school, and I’m willing to study again and reapply stronger.
For context, I’m currently active duty military and planning to use the time I have left in service to improve my application, especially my LSAT. I’m trying to figure out the smartest way to approach a retake and future applications.
For anyone who reapplied after being denied, what helped you the most? Was it mainly improving your LSAT, rewriting your personal statement, applying earlier, adding more schools, or something else? Also, how would you recommend structuring LSAT study while working full-time?
Any honest advice is appreciated. I’m disappointed, but I’m not ready to give up.

Active duty here! I’ll be applying this upcoming cycle, so unfortunately I don’t have any advice on the admissions side of things yet. However, when it comes to studying, I’ve basically made studying part of my job.
I get off work at 3 p.m. every day, give myself about a 30–40 minute break to decompress, grab something to eat, change out of my uniform, and then lock in for about three hours (Monday–Friday). Rest is important to avoid burnout, so I usually take Saturdays off and pick things back up on Sunday, which is typically my longest study day (around 3–5 hours).
I understand every AFSC/MOS is different, and your job might not give you the same flexibility, or even leave you with the mental energy to study at the end of the day, but treating studying as "part of my job" has really worked for me.
I even study in my work office because, even though my husband is incredibly supportive and has taken on a lot of extra responsibilities around the house so I can focus on studying, I know that if I studied at home, I’d feel guilty, get sidetracked, and my studies would suffer.
I hope this approach helps! Feel free to message me if you have any other questions or just want to chat.
@Jeydi-Delgado Thank you so much!!! It is definitely hard as I am a Staff Sergeant, Command relying on me for mulitple roels/collatoral duties. However, I do make it a point to study at minmum 1 hour each day. I did take 1 month off as I waited for the law school response. Now it is back to the grind.
