Has anyone else looked at the recent data released on LSAT scores? There is something HIGHLY fishy going on with the increase in the top line... which happens to take place just after you are allowed to take the test remotely! cough cheating cough (didn't say it!)

Here are the facts:

The number of LSAT Applicant tests have increased by 30%

The LSAT Median (155-159) has increased similarly at 26% .. so far so good, normal distribution with added applicants.

The alarm shows up at the top end... an !!!!!! 85% !!!!! increase in (175-180) scorers. Nearly DOUBLING the top line.

My Thesis:

Any addition, or subtraction, from applicants STATISTICALLY SHOULD result in the same distribution range. We know LSAT has been very fair with creating a system for their two LRs and one RCs to keep an even playing field for all applicants. Even with the dropping of logic games, an ALMOST DOUBLING on the top line would be unheard of.

Anyone who has taken remote/online testing during college, knows about friend or two, that knows how to go around the Prometric system. Not that any of us here would do that of course. Could this also be LSAC blanket approving anyone with a doctors note for 1.5x time? Possibly. Could it be Prometric work arounds? possibly. Did we just get smarter applicants? Possibly.

But I will say one thing ... when there is smoke .. there is ...

An increase in scores could also stem from many applicants feeling comfortable taking it at home, immensely improving their overall focus. I took the LSAT in person; a lot was going on around me, and the noise-cancelling headphones given were minimally useful. But I don't know if that would lead to a doubling of the topline result.

I think they are doing away with online testing. I read that after June 2026 all testing will be done in person.

Someone in my lsat study forum said they just took the lsat argumentative writing part, and prior to that they had not written an essay since 8th grade. This person just earned a bachelor's degree. 😳

AI is really dumbing us down. 🤦‍♀️

How would they even cheat on the exam? Isn't there some form of proctor app or something?

@lolowoo1 even if there weren't proctor apps, like how would you even cheat? it's not like it's a math test that you can just use a calculator. AI gets so many LSAT questions wrong when you ask it, so it doesn't know the logic behind questions. You can't just look into a prep book and be like, yup that question matches AC A. Like I am so confused how people cheat!

@nycxchi AI absolutely can answer LSAT questions. Just this last year they tested several LLM and 5/6 got above a 175 on a PT with one scoring a perfect 180.

@RafaelGahan hmm that's interesting. I've tried asking AI for explanations on questions but it never answered a question correctly. I guess it depends on the model.

@nycxchi yeah I don't think chatgpt/claude/gemini are very good, they have specific "reasoning" models that they used if I remember correctly

I think that is why LSAC has decided to go back to in-person tests only. They figured out that they screwed up

@Daisy228 Save this post - we will see the bell curve shoot to the left now that online testing is done with... and also see 1.5x ADHD waivers double

This isn't fun! I'm trying to study the old-fashioned way and show them what I can really do. It hurts me to think that people are so willing to he so dishonest and flagrantly violate basic morality. What the world needs least right now is more morally compromised lawyers.
