Quick question: are LOR required to be connected to your undergrad instructors? I am able to get LOR, but from attorneys and managing partners in my Law Firm. If I need to get these from my previous instructors however, this may prove slightly challenging.

The rule of thumb is that admissions officers expect two academic letters of rec if you are applying as a current student OR have just graduated; one academic letter if you just graduated within the past two or three years; or expect professional letters of rec if you are two or three years past your most recent college experience. The only school I'm aware of that states a preference in their app instructions for an academic letter is Duke. However, I also know that they have older applicants whom they admit every year and I find it hard to believe that they REALLY require that someone who graduated 5 years ago go out there and get an academic LoR.
I hope that helps!
Hey! It depends on the schools you're applying to; most schools provide specific guidelines about where they want your LORs to come from. Depending on the school, they might have a strong preference for at least one LOR from undergrad. If it's been awhile since you graduated, I've found professors to be understanding about your position/willing to help out even if they don't really remember you (I graduated in 2019 and was applying in the most recent cycle).
