I think it has to do with how many 4 or 5 level questions are for the passage. It is not necessarily the topic because I have come across some passages that I had no idea wth the author was talking about, but the questions were easy. Some passages are easy to understand. However, the questions are a nightmare. They do mention in the curriculum that some passages are dense with boing topics to "scare" test takers.
