There’s a user who is spamming the question discussions with super long explanations in an effort to market their tutoring services (their username is a tutoring company, but they are not using an official 7sage tutor/instructor tagged account) and I find it unhelpful.
Others might find these explanations (marketing pitches) helpful! It’s annoying to me to have to scroll past their ads to find other discussion comment explanations from actual 7sage tutors. So, if I could just block them for my own sake, that’d solve this!

Seconding this! I’ve actually reduced using the discussion section because of this issue. An alternate option that may help, if blocking isn’t feasible, is if we were allowed to filter comments by user type (such as 7Sage tutors only) and be able to preserve that filter across all questions.
@ZingyIndustriousProperty I like the filter idea as well!
@ZingyIndustriousProperty I’m actually surprised there isn’t a block feature already in place given that this is a public platform with real, somewhat anonymized users leaving real comments and chats with each other! I’ve never ever had any issues with harassment or negativity from other people on this site — truly it’s mostly good vibes and helpful perspectives haha — we are all here with one goal. But not having a block feature seems like a liability in some ways? It just takes one person being hateful to make a mess of things.
@monmon I completely agree! I also personally haven’t had negative experiences, but I did see someone else comment a while back that a user was sending uncomfortable or harassing messages. I believe the 7Sage team did take action quickly (which is wonderful!). However, since 7Sage is looking to make certain parts of this place a social platform, they really should implement safety measures like blocking. I also don’t see a report feature, which could be another good measure to keep the space positive and helpful.
I agree. I've also seen the exact comments you're talking about lol
@JTF2005 the account is relentless lol there was a post they made on the larger discussion board celebrating a 100 day streak and I'm just like ... does it count as a streak if it's actually just a marketing campaign?? At this point it's actually just your outreach strategy!?
@monmon haha yup .. we're definitely thinking about the same user then :p I actually checked out the website (that used to be) in their profile out of curiosity a week or two ago, and the entire thing looked like it was made with AI anyway. Most of the buttons were completely broken.
I know exactly who you’re referring to 😭
@yes-coconuts I of course didn't want to tag them and call them out explicitly, but phew — it's getting out of hand (to me! hence my desire to block haha).
