I’m currently registered to take my second LSAT in September after scoring a 158 on my first official attempt in August. My practice test scores have been improving—on my most recent test, I scored a 163 under timed conditions and a 170 on blind review—and I’m optimistic that I can improve on my September score.
That said, I’m also wondering whether taking the October test could give me a better chance of reaching my ultimate goal of a 170. I had a couple of questions about this plan:
Does it look bad to take the LSAT three times?
If I’m hoping to apply during this admissions cycle, would submitting my applications at the end of October, at the absolute earliest, put me at a significant disadvantage?

i don't think it looks bad and i don't think applying at the end of October would put you at a significant disadvantage I think it's worthwhile if you can get a slightly higher score
i heard them say on the 7sage podcast recently that its become much more common in recent years to have multiple retakes and schools may see it as you being persistent and working hard to improve, i think if theres a general upward trend and the numbers tell a story that makes sense then having 3 tests is completely fine
